Location
Saint-Mandrier-sur-Mer is a commune in the Var department of the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region, located on the peninsula of the same name, which is linked to the mainland by the Sablettes isthmus. It lies some fifteen kilometers south of Toulon, whose roadstead it partly "closes". The history of Saint-Mandrier-sur-Mer is closely linked to that of the nearby Toulon naval base. First with the installation of an infirmary, then a military hospital, then a fort and batteries for defensive purposes, and finally a lighthouse.

Today, the French Navy still occupies three quarters of the municipal territory, with a naval training center, a diving base and a mechanics' school.

From a civilian point of view, the town's activities have shifted from agriculture to tourism, with the creation of a marina and the preservation of a high-quality coastal environment where beaches and pine forests are appreciated. With a population of some 5,800, the town also boasts a dynamic cultural scene. As a result, it has a legitimate reputation as a holiday resort.
