The city of Locarno is a popular tourist destination offering a great natural landscape and cultural attractions The city centre (4 minutes), Piazza Grande, is popular for hosting an annual film festival. Places of interest include the old town, the 12th century Castello Visconteo (6 minutes), the fine arts collections and the promenade. Guests can also take a cruise on the lake or explore the region through its various hiking and biking trails especially around Cardada (34 minutes). The gastronomic scene is fairly well developed and restaurants pride themselves on serving excellent food with great views.
