The Convent of the Bernardines, located in the heart of the charming Algarve city of Tavira, was commissioned in 1509 by King Manuel I and later assigned, in 1530, to the sisters of Saint Bernard, nuns of the Cistercian Order.

The rehabilitation of this building earned Eduardo Souto de Moura, architect, the Pritzker Prize. The European Prize for Intervention in Architectural Heritage in 2017.

The solid wood furniture and simple decoration faithfully maintain the original design of the project's author, giving the space the true balance envisioned for the entire endeavor. The Convent of the Bernardines, also known as the Monastery of Our Lady of Mercy, was the first convent to be established in the Algarve.

With two magnificent saltwater pools, offering numerous health benefits such as skin cleansing and hydration, reduction of inflammation, and muscle relaxation.

Bathroom: 2 bathrooms in total. One of the bedrooms with an en suite bathroom. Equipped with hairdryer, shower base, bathtub, washbasin, bidet, and toilet. Bath towels are provided.

Access: Duplex apartment located on the first floor, access only by stairs.

Pool: 2 common saltwater pools.
