Location
The 7th arrondissement lies to the southwest of the city center, and includes the tip of the Vieux Port and the Îles du Frioul. It's one of the city's most sought-after districts, home to the immense golden statue of the Basilica Notre Dame de la Garde, Marseilles' landmark. The district is also home to one of France's oldest Christian monuments, Saint Victor's Abbey, Fort Saint Nicolas and the Palais du Pharo.
You'll discover the narrow, steep streets of the Saint Victor and Saint Lambert districts, as well as bourgeois and modern buildings alternating with numerous sidewalk stalls. Beautiful villas tucked away in winding streets add to the charm of this privileged district, which is not easily accessible by car or public transport.
