For lovers of old stones and authentic places, the CHARTREUSE DE LA SYLVE BÉNITE is just waiting for you. At the crossroads of hiking trails (GR65 / via Gebennensis on the Camino de Compostela), in a green setting, the gîte is ideal for family gatherings, friendships, training courses or other events requiring a serene setting, just 35 minutes from Grenoble, 1H from Lyon and Chambéry.
The 340 m2 building with 14 beds was rebuilt in stone on the upper part of the former monastery founded in 1116 and partially destroyed during the French Revolution.
As soon as you enter, you'll be seduced by the vaulted living/dining room and the beautiful staircase leading to the left wing of the second floor. On the first floor, you'll also find a kitchen recently modernized for greater comfort, a large vaulted room with ping pong table and board games, 2 separate WCs and a chapel inviting you to rediscover the spirituality of the place.
The kitchen and games room open onto the outside, allowing direct access to the gîte's garden in fine weather for convivial outdoor meals.
On the second floor of the right wing, you'll find 1 shower room and 3 bedrooms: 1 with a 160cm bed (GARANCE), 1 with a 90cm bed (POURPRE), 1 with a 90cm bed + 1 crib (GENETS). On the second floor of the left wing, you'll find 1 shower room, 1 bathroom and 4 bedrooms: 1 with bed 160 (INCARNAT), 1 with 2 beds 90 that can be joined (MALACHITE), 1 with 2 beds 90 (INDIGO) and the last one with 1 bunk bed 2 x 90 and 2 beds 90 (SAFRAN).
The GARANCE, POURPRE, MALACHITE, INDIGO and SAFRAN rooms are equipped with a space with a washbasin for a small toilet.
Thanks to the thick walls, the building is pleasantly cool in summer. In winter, the fireplace is the perfect place to light up the flames in this timeless setting.

La CHARTREUSE DE LA SYLVE BÉNITE is a complete dwelling. It's a 1-storey house, adjoining the janitor's house. It has its own entrance and a private, but not fully enclosed, garden in front of the house.
Free public parking is available in front of the house.

Notes
The CHARTREUSE DE LA SYLVE BÉNITE opens its doors to the public after many years of closure. Major renovations have been undertaken, but much remains to be done. Some rooms are still in their original state, but they will gradually be refurbished GR CE A VOUS. In fact, by renting this gîte, you are directly contributing to the renovation of this local heritage: in the short term, the roofs of the enclosed building will be restored, the spring water supply system renovated, the listed parquet floors renovated, and the interiors and equipment of the gîte refurbished.
