View of Monte Amiata for 3 guests Agriturismo La Piaggia - Vivo d'OrciaApartment on the second floor of a renovated farmhouse which has a total of 3 apartments. The structure, completely in stone, allows those who stay there to enjoy fresh natural air (there is no need for air conditioning). The farmhouse is completely surrounded by greenery (it is surrounded by woods and fields), there are no other houses around. It is very easy to spot roe deer in the morning. To reach the structure it is necessary to travel a short stretch of dirt road (unpaved), easily passable by any means.
n.b. The entrance to the dirt road to get to the structure is along the sp 65 of Vivo d'orcia (leaving the village of Vivo d'Orcia, past the waterfall, on the right), in the direction of Altori-Pescina-Seggiano.Number of bedrooms: 2; Number of other rooms with beds: 0
Taxes of City tax 1 EUR Per person / day may be collected during the booking process. If this is not supported, they must be paid to the host upon arrival.
Second floor apartment. Its main feature is the maintenance of the original floor that was in the structure under constant renovation; obviously has some imperfections but, in our opinion, it is beautiful. It has been cleaned and scrupulously restored without removing, however, all the imperfections that characterize it. Another peculiarity of the apartment is the presence, in the living room/kitchen area, of a small mezzanine. Before the renovation there were no stairs to go up that there are now but a small "climb". In the old structure this room was the granary.
It is a rather large apartment consisting of a living room with kitchen, 2 large bedrooms (one single and one double) and 2 bathrooms (one for the exclusive use of the double bedroom).
Independent entrance.
To reach the entrance to the apartment it is necessary to climb a small flight of external and internal stairs.
The kitchen is equipped with everything needed for cooking (pots, lids, utensils, etc.) and for eating (plates, cutlery, glasses, etc.)
The bathrooms are both equipped with all the normal facilities.
In the living room there are two comfortable armchairs and a wood-burning fireplace which can be easily lit. The wood is available for guests and is located outside the structure.
NB the fireplace cannot be used as a waste incinerator (each apartment has a rubbish bin and outside there are containers for separate waste collection) or for cooking (there are a barbecue and brazier available outside for guests).
In the small mezzanine of the living room there are two armchairs and a lamp. We liked seeing it as an alternative space to read a good book and see the living room from above.
In the apartment there is free wifi internet connection, available to guests.
Nb: The wifi works with the Eolo dish (the area is not served by fiber) so the connection is not super fast. The presence of very thick walls can mean that, on certain days, the internet connection is unable to serve all the rooms of the apartment.
There is no air conditioning because it is not needed. The thick walls ensure a pleasantly (and naturally) cool temperature.
From the windows there is a splendid view of Monte Amiata and the fields and woods that surround the farmhouse.
The structure is entirely surrounded by greenery. Outside there is a charcoal barbecue (the charcoal is available to guests) and a brazier. There are tables outside for eating. In the evening the external lighting is switched on automatically. There are deck chairs to be able to relax reading a good book or perhaps sunbathing. The La Piaggia farmhouse is the ideal place for those who love walking or cycling. From here it is easy to reach, on foot or by bike, the Ermicciolo park where you can visit the Vivo springs, but also the Vivo hermitage.
It is also in an optimal position for visiting the whole Valdorcia (Pienza, Montalcino, Montepulciano, Siena, etc. are just a few kilometers away).
N.b.: For Hygienic Reasons We Do Not Provide Condiments (Oil, Salt, etc.) or coffee and tea.
Nb: the services that the apartment provides are well described. In particular, I would like to underline that there is a moka and there is no coffee machine with pods. The apartment is rustic. It is a farm.
Nb: since the structure is located in the open countryside, it is possible the presence of mosquitoes, flies, butterflies (even at night) and other insects, or lizards, squirrels, wild boars, roe deer, and it is also possible to see swallows or other types of birds flying.
N.b.: to reach the structure it is necessary to travel a short stretch of dirt road (about 2550 meters), which can be easily traveled by any means. However, I am very keen to clarify that a dirt road is traveled in a different way from a paved road and that they are two very different things.
N.b.: the tourist tax (1 euro per person per day) is to be paid locally.
