On the west bank of the Var, the commune of La Gaude enjoys a more than privileged location, just a few steps from the beaches of the Mediterranean.
Between Nice, Vence and Saint-Laurent-du-Var, La Gaude is located in the Alpes-Maritimes department, in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region. In the heart of the Nice hinterland, between hills planted with fragrant essences and valleys with sporty slopes, the commune of La Gaude attracts holidaymakers in search of authentic, typical Provence landscapes. Occupied since Antiquity, it keeps from its rich past an architectural and cultural heritage particularly interesting. It is by walking through its narrow streets that you can discover all the charm of this Provencal village: as you stroll through the village, you can't miss the village church, built on the highest point of La Gaude. Marcel Pagnol, to whom the town also dedicates a festival every year, at the beginning of August, dedicated to his greatest works from Jean de Florette to Manon des Sources, and which brings together a large number of fans. The Roman Bridge, the Roman sarcophagus of the Aurelia Way and the Living Ecomuseum of Provence will complete your visit of the places not to be missed in the village.
But what resolutely makes La Gaude so charming is its environment. Nestling in the heart of abundant vegetation, the village has a large number of walking, horse riding and cycling routes, suitable for experienced walkers as well as novices looking for a quiet stroll. On the old roads of Vence, via the Chemin des Maires, the Chemin des Bastides, the Voie Aurélia or the GR653 and the Paths of Santiago de Compostela trails, all the magnificence of the hinterland of Nice will be offered to you! It will be easy for you to visit Vence, Saint-Jeannet, the Gorges du Loup, the Baou de Saint-Jeannet and that of La Gaude (for hikers), Gattières, Nice or Saint-Laurent-du-Var in just a few pedal strokes! Finally, for swimming, the splendid beaches of Saint-Laurent-du-Var and Cagnes-sur-Mer are just waiting for you.
