At the heart of a unique environment in Europe, the Auvergne is home to several historic towns that will fill heritage lovers. The largest of these, Clermont-Ferrand, extends at the foot of the Puy-de-Dôme and seduces by the diversity of its monuments. You will be able to admire the Romanesque basilica Notre-Dame-du-Port, built in the 12th century, the cathedral Notre-Dame-de-l'Assomption, but also the Michelin Aventure space which recalls the epic of the famous brand of tires. Less densely populated, the prefectures of the other three départements of the region also contain many treasures : Aurillac (Saint-Géraud church, Chateau Saint-Étienne, national stud), Moulins (Notre-Dame-de-l'Annonciation cathedral, Jacquemart tower , Mantin house) and Le Puy-en-Velay (Notre-Dame-de-l'Annonciation cathedral, Corneille rock, Hôtel-Dieu).
Enjoy the other riches of Auvergne by following the thematic routes proposed by the region. On the Historical Route of the Castles, you can admire 42 castles open to the public and especially those of Auzers and Murol. If you prefer religious buildings, take the Route of the Romanesque Churches which will take you from Orcival to Lavaudieu via Saint-Nectaire and Issoire. To offer you a few wellness breaks, follow the Route des Villes d'eau and give yourself up to long moments of relaxation in the thalassotherapy centers of La Bourboule, Chaudes-Aigues or Vichy. But also make some detours to visit the most beautiful villages of France of the region : Arlempdes, Charroux, Saint-Floret, Salers...
Thanks to its exceptional natural setting, the Auvergne also invites you to practice many fun activities or sports. Discover the chain of the Puys through its many hiking trails, cycling and mountain biking itineraries and visiting the Vulcania park. Fill up with sensations by rafting in the Haut-Allier gorges or paragliding around Le Puy-Mary. In winter, enjoy the magnificent ski area of Super Besse and the Nordic ski areas of Prat-de-Bouc or Cap Guéry.
