Need a refreshing vacation away from the crowds? Far from the hustle and bustle of the big tourist destinations, to find yourself with your family in a nice quiet corner? Head for the small village of Treignac, in the New-Aquitaine region.

It is in the department of Corrèze, right in the heart of the Parc Naturel Régional de Millevaches en Limousin, that the commune of Treignac is located. Crossed from one side to the other by the tortuous meanders of the Vézère, it flourishes at the foot of the Monédières massif. Treignac, an ancient medieval town located on the road to Santiago de Compostela, invites you to come and discover its most beautiful faces. To begin your visit, head for the banks of the Vézère river to revel in the splendid panoramas over the town. From the banks of the river, beautiful viewpoints await you over the Gothic church of Notre-Dame-des-Bans, but also over the old 13th century bridge and the charming residences of the lower town. From the walled city that it was in the Middle Ages, only the Porte Chabirande remains today, inviting the visitor to hurry inside the town. On its left, the former house of the guards who used to watch over it. Then it is a maze of lanes which awaits you, lanes surmounted by shell houses, a 12th century grain market, fountains, a chapel (Notre-Dame de la Paix, with its listed bell tower) and then another still (des Pénitents), so many places and monuments which will lead you in the direction of the "Belvédère" tower from which you will be able to observe incomparable panoramas of Treignac and its medieval and Renaissance houses with slate roofs.

After a short visit to the Museum of Popular Arts and Traditions to learn all about the history and folklore of the Haute Vézère, head for the Bariousses lake for an enchanting interlude in a veritable cocoon of greenery. A large body of water covering more than 99 hectares, this lake located just north of the commune of Treignac is a paradise for adventurers and other sportsmen and women at heart! It has a sandy beach perfect for bubbling in the sun and perfecting your tan in the summer, trails for mountain bikes and electric bikes, picnic areas, a boules court, a volleyball court, games for the little ones, but also hiking trails that will allow you to discover the Way of Saint James towards Rocamadour. Finally, this particularly pleasant place from the first fine days is especially renowned for the practice of nautical activities such as swimming, fishing, sailing, paddling, pedal boats with the family or canoeing and kayaking, thanks to spots recognized in the world of white water sports. There's something for everyone, young and old, whether they are new to the sport or seasoned sportsmen and women!
