Take the time to walk through the old quarter of Petraghju: here, the houses are old, full of charm, the dwellings are connected by magnificent arcades under which run small streets where the stone is at the rendezvous. What to see? The Place de la Libération, the beating heart of the village, the Town Hall housed in the former governor's palace, or the 12th century church of Sainte-Marie. Go through the Maghju square, the Paoli square, the old A Scaledda bridge, the entrance to the town, before strolling along the fortifications, the ramparts, the corner tower... and the Echauguette! A 16th century Genoese tower built in place of an ancient medieval tower, it offers a breathtaking view of the Rizzanese valley from its promontory!

Rich in ancient history, Sartène, perched at an altitude of 300 metres, is an ancestral land, firmly attached to its traditions, which reveals its history in its museum full of objects discovered on its territory during archaeological excavations. History lovers can also head for the archaeological site of Cauria which is full of megaliths, because like Brittany, Corsica has many standing stones, emblematic of its heritage. The other emblem of Sartene is its carnival! An unmissable event in the region, it is one of the most eagerly awaited festive moments of the year in Sartène, as is the Catenaccio which takes place at the beginning of April, a large procession on Good Friday, which is one of the most popular celebrations in Corsica not to be missed if you are visiting the region at this time of the year!

Spread out from the Cala d'Arana to the Roccapina rock, Sartene also unveils a huge AOC vineyard of 2600 hectares perfect for a few walks or bike rides!
