Close your eyes and imagine: a turquoise water of enchanting beauty, heavenly coves where you can swim in peace, pink rocks spread over 10 kilometres under a generous sun... Welcome to the Pink Granite Coast.
A Breton nugget too little known sculpted by the wind and tides, the Pink Granite Coast is small in size but large in magnificence. Its particularity? Its huge copper granite blocks with surprising shapes, most of which seem to defy the laws of gravity. For the anecdote, there are only three places in the world where you can find pink granite: in China, Corsica and... Brittany. Located in the Côtes-d'Armor, this land of escape, history and discovery passes through the municipalities of Perros-Guirec, Ploumanac'h, Trégastel, Pleumeur-Bodou and Trébeurden.
Perros-Guirec is the emblematic city of the Pink Granite Coast: elegant and rather chic, this seaside resort is undoubtedly its main charm asset. Don't miss Saint-Guirec Oratory, a true local emblem surrounded by legends. It is said that the young girls to be married evoked Saint-Guirec in order to find a husband in the year: and for their wish to come true, they stuck a needle in the nose of the statue which, today, has lost its nose. Perros-Guirec is also THE spot for water sports aficionados: from Trestraou beach (known for its casino) or from the wildest beach of Trestignel (from which the sunsets are to be damned), you can practice a wide choice of sliding sports, from surfing to paddle and sailing. If you are more of the "idleness team", then the colourful bathing cabins of Trestignel and its long sandy beach will seduce you! Note that the municipality will satisfy all your desires in terms of gastronomy: special mention to the "Ty Veg", which offers delicious vegan cakes in addition to traditional cakes!
Ploumanac'h is one of the most proud inhabitants of the Côtes-d'Armor: attached to the commune of Perros-Guirec, this village was elected "Village Préféré des Français". Absolutely magnificent, this picturesque little village scented with sweet iodine fragrances is the starting point for many walks, including the famous Sentier des Douaniers (GR 34), which you can find to the right of the port. From there, the walk will lead you tirelessly through some of the most breathtaking panoramas that the Pink Granite Coast has to offer. You will not want to miss the famous Mean Ruz Lighthouse, an emblematic site on the coast perched on a high granite block facing the sometimes raging sea during the tormented days. We recommend that you get closer to the lighthouse to see some of the most beautiful sites on the coast, from the castle of Costaéres to the 7 islands and the Renote Peninsula.
What would you say to take a look around the 7 islands? Rouzic Island, Malban Island, Bono Island, Monk Island, Deer, Costans, Flat Island: these are the names of the islands that make up this protected archipelago, beloved by bird lovers. Located off the Pink Granite Coast, these islands are a real paradise for birds, most of which choose Rouzic Island as their holiday destination (as shown by the white face of the island, totally covered with Northern Gannets). If, to the delight of puffins, seals, gannets and 25 other breeding bird species, the Natural Reserve is inaccessible to tourists, it will still be possible for you to get very close to it during river shuttle excursions from Ploumanac'h or Perros-Guirec. Our advice: for having experienced it, even if the sea seems oily at first sight, avoid eating too much before boarding for this cruise. Breton waters are sometimes... quite capricious!
What could be better than Trégastel to bubble under the sun? With 12 beaches, each larger and more beautiful than the next, Trégastel is undoubtedly the ideal place for swimming, sailing and walking. The Renote Peninsula is particularly recommended for lovers of outdoor walks (and for children who will love chasing the many rabbits that inhabit the island), when the castle of Costaéres will amaze fans of neomedieval architecture: located on the island of the same name, this castle is accessible by foot at low tide. If it is not open to visitors since it is a private site, you can still enjoy its beauty and its setting worthy of the most beautiful postcards from Tourony beach.
Pleumeur-Bodou's discreet charm will allow you to escape the summer crowd: don't leave without having discovered the Cairns of the magnificent Île Grande, but also the LPO station, the Parc du Radôme and the Planetarium.
Finally, Trébeurden will seduce boaters and hiking fans: with its breathtaking panoramas, the seaside resort with its 7 beaches is a real paradise for nature lovers and scuba diving enthusiasts. Milliau Island, Bihit Point, Molène Island, Goas Lagorn Valley and Quellen Marsh are unmissable!
