The second largest town in the Côtes-d'Armor, watered by the Leguer River, this city of character on the hillside is divided into two distinct parts : the lower town, along the quays, and the upper town. This last one will seduce you for its medieval charm, as well as for its well preserved historical city centre which promises pleasant strolls, at the rhythm of its sinuous and paved lanes as well as its houses sometimes with wooden sections (on the market place), sometimes made of pink granite, famous local stone. Considered as one of the most beautiful in Brittany, the Lannion market takes over the town centre for the whole day: from the Place du Général Leclerc to the flowery quay of Aiguillon via the Rue Jean-Savidan, the market is made up of fresh and regional produce. You will find freshly caught fish, mussels, oysters, spider crabs, crustaceans, but also Plougastel strawberries, local beer, artichokes, Paimpol coconuts, scallops, but also vendors of typical Breton dishes such as far, kouign-amann and galettes bretonnes. Walk from one bridge to the other along the Leguer passing by the chapel of the Ursulines convent (an absolutely magnificent building), the Sainte-Anne monastery, the Saint-Joseph chapel and the Saint-Jean du Baly church, then take the paved alleys that meander through Lannion, observe the half-timbered houses of the rue des Capucins and head towards the stairs of Brélévenez. Passing through Lannion, you will absolutely have to climb up to the Brélévenez district : perched at the very top of Lannion, this ancient village, as if frozen in time, is built around a church and a cemetery, which you can discover after having courageously climbed the 143 steps of its mythical staircase. Lined with atypical houses of different sizes and shapes, carved in granite and all with their own identity, this staircase will offer you from its summit an absolutely unique viewpoint on the roofs of Lannion and the surrounding communes : a beautiful reward after an effort which, we assure you, is worth it !

In addition to its beautiful heritage, gentle lifestyle and delicious cuisine, Lannion is also renowned for its superb beaches. For sporting afternoons in a magnificent setting, go to the small village of Yaudet to find the bay of the Virgin and more particularly the "beach Pont-Roux" : located at the mouth of the Leguer, this beach is a real wonder. Lovée below the Yaudet, an ancient Gallic fortress, this beach made up of many small coves offers breathtaking views over the bay. Set at the bottom of a valley, like a protective cocoon, at high tide it offers its visitors a real little corner of paradise. Finally, on the sea side, Lannion counts several kilometres of beautiful beaches of fine sand, on the side of its seaside resort of Beg Léguer. The wild beach of "Maez an Aod" offers sumptuous views of the sea. Divided into two coves (one where naturism is common, and the other relatively more family), this beach is appreciated for its Zen and natural setting, and many vacationers come to picnic or enjoy a midnight bath. Further north, towards Trébeurden, "Goaslagorn Beach" is one of Lannion's busiest beaches. Facing west, it is ideal for tanning sessions and idleness parentheses under the Breton sun. Situated in a preserved setting, these beaches are perfect for watching sumptuous sunsets, where sky, sea and granite rocks merge into a spectacle of magnificent colours : a picture that only Brittany seems to have the secret. Finally, to enjoy nautical activities, you should go to the beaches of Trébeurden, 10 minutes from Lannion, where longe-côte, catamaran, sailing, canoe-kayak and paddle make the happiness of amateur and confirmed sportsmen.
