Lovers of wide open spaces, diving in turquoise waters and excursions in the heart of a preserved and wild nature ? Head for Brittany, and more particularly the commune of Pleubian. Located in the north-west of the Côtes d'Armor department, Pleubian is an essential tourist destination in this beautiful corner of Brittany. With its 12 kilometres of coastline, the town is definitively open to the sea and will offer you the opportunity to discover all the most beautiful riches of the neighbouring islands, such as the magnificent island of Bréhat in particular.
For sports holidays and 100% nature, leave your car aside to prefer walks, horse riding or cycling to discover the most beautiful treasures of Pleubian. Start with its heart of the city: dotted with beautiful Breton and neo-Breton residences, Pleubian's city centre also houses some beautiful buildings from past centuries, such as its former 15th century presbytery located at 16 rue de Pleumeur. Many of the manors have stood the test of time and are now constelling the streets of Pleubian. Also, during your strolls, you will certainly cross the way of the manor of Crech-Quelen (XVIIIe century), or of the manor of Kermoda to 11 of the strike of Port-Béni.
But what makes Pleubian so popular with visitors is its countless hiking trails through its harbours, coastline and natural wealth. If there is a circuit to be done absolutely, it is that of the Sillon de Talbert. Geological curiosity like no other, the Sillon de Talbert is in itself an exceptional spectacle : hoisted like an exclamation point above the coast, it advances in the sea on nearly 3 kilometers. Made of sand and lined with dunes and pebbles in its highest part, this strange lagoon shaped by the currents and (very !) exposed to the winds fills the amateurs of fishing on foot who find there shrimps, curries and clams. Preserved and protected, this natural site is a paradise for hiking, but it also serves as shelter for many species of birds such as cormorants, curlews and terns. To the logical explanations of this geological strangeness, romantic legends are opposed : in Pleubian, it is said that Morgana, in love with King Arthur, poured stones on the sea which turned into pebbles. A second version of the story says that Merlin himself would have poured these thousands of stones in order to join the fairy Viviane... Whatever your favorite version of the story, this Sillon de Talbert is definitely surrounded by mystery. Other unmissable circuits also cross the city, as the circuit of Port Béni and its panorama on the lighthouse of the Corne in particular, the circuit of Port la Chaine, remarkable for its points of view on the Sillon de Talbert and the lighthouse of the Héaux, or the circuit of the Lighthouses. Almost 9 kilometres long, this itinerary along the GR 34 along the coast will allow you to enjoy magnificent views over the Ile Blanche in particular and the Ile de Bréhat. The latter is one of the essential destinations of your stay, to visit absolutely. After only a few minutes of crossing by boat, you will dock on what is rightly nicknamed "Flower Island". Its typically Breton houses, its gardens, its small narrow and winding alleys, its seaside, its trees and its flowers by the thousands... One cannot say too much what gives Bréhat its incredibly charming charm. Served by a micro climate guaranteeing mild days throughout the year, Bréhat is the sun of the Côtes d'Armor. After having smelled and admired the purple agapanthes, the mimosas, the mulberry trees, the enormous hydrangeas and the coloured camellias, climb up to the top of its chapel Saint Michel for what will certainly be one of the most beautiful points of view that you will be able to observe from the island. You can visit it in a day, and enjoy your passage on Brehat to eat feet in the water on the side of the "beach of Gwerzido".
Back on Pleubian, take the direction of its beaches for moments of idleness well deserved under the Breton sun. The beach of "Port Béni", a pretty small strike of fine sand and pebbles, is only very little frequented: it will make the happiness of the amateurs of calm and the sailors in the soul since it has a hold of launching for the small boats. Familiale is adored by holidaymakers, the beach of "Pors Rand" is at the bottom of the bay, 500 meters from the Sillon de Talbert. With its breathtaking view over the lighthouse of the Héaux de Bréhat, it is the ideal place for volleyball games and the legendary family sand castle competitions. Finally, the north-facing beach of "Kermagen" has a diving board and a playground, perfect for the little ones to have fun while the older ones indulge in long idleness sessions on the blond sand. For water activities, head for Ploubazlanec or Plougrescant to go sea kayaking, sailing or paddle and sea outings, or even on the beaches of Bréhat to discover the joys of scuba diving.
