70 kilometers from Saint-Brieuc, 10 kilometers from Dinan, 15 kilometers from Dinard, and 23 kilometers from Saint-Malo, Plouër-sur-Rance is ideally located in the heart of the northern coast of Brittany. Populated since prehistoric times, as evidenced by the Neolithic remains found on its territory, the village of Plouër-sur-Rance has developed largely during the Gallo-Roman era, under the influence of the nearby river port of Taden. This charming town, which has been involved in river activities for centuries, is one of the region's leading tourist destinations, thanks to its history, its infrastructures and its emblematic panoramas of Brittany. What seduces visitors is undoubtedly its heritage: here, the houses are old, squat, made of stone and granite, and immerse the visitor in no time in the warm atmosphere of the region. But the visit is not limited to the houses since the town has many charming monuments that you can discover, such as the Castle of Plouër: listed in the inventory of historical monuments, this building rebuilt in the seventeenth century in place of the remains of an old medieval fortress impresses with its elegant Louis XIII style, and its French park classified as Remarkable Gardens. Also worth seeing? The tide mill, the Souhaitier chapel known to sailors, the Chêne Vert tower and the splendid 18th century Saint-Pierre-et-Paul church, which is worth a visit for its altarpieces and recumbents. In terms of Breton heritage, the Bel Evan covered walkway deserves your full attention: measuring more than 15 metres in length, this Neolithic walkway made of quartz is undoubtedly one of the treasures of the village!

The other must-see of Plouër-sur-Rance is its port. Situated in a ria that once fed old mills, the marina attracts visitors for its elegance and unique setting. It is likely that you will enjoy strolling to the rhythm of the masts that clatter and tinkle in the wind! In all, the commune has 16 kilometres of coastline, and you can discover the beauty of the coastline around Plouër-sur-Rance on foot, by bike or on the Rance. Our advice? Near the Mont St Michel (less than an hour by car), St Malo, Dinan and the Rance valley are visits to be made. The port and the beach of Plouër are 5 minutes walk away. Cap Fréhel is worth a visit and if you are not afraid to drive, the island of Bréhat is an hour and a half away. In case of good weather plan to go there very early, it's extremely crowded on sunny days!
