A blue water to make you dream, a marked heritage, beautiful beaches and such an attractive authenticity: this is what the small village of Ploumilliau looks like. Located on the coast of Brittany, in the department of Côtes-d'Armor, Ploumilliau has all the assets for a perfect holiday in Brittany.

Watered by the Leguer River that flows into the Bay of the Virgin Mary, facing the magnificent Pink Granite Coast, Ploumilliau takes place between Lannion and Plestin-les-Grèves, about thirty kilometres northeast of Morlaix. Typical municipality of the Breton coast, Ploumilliau has a remarkable heritage, made of granite houses, old manors and many religious buildings. Put on good shoes, or climb on your bike, as you wish, and discover everything that makes this secular city so charming. To see? The church of Saint-Milliau, located on Place de l'église. Dating from the 15th century, it was built in place of another church, which had its origins in the Middle Ages; with its Renaissance inspirations, numerous restorations and beautiful decorations, this original church attracts the eye and is well worth a visit. The Tronkolaine fountain and its statue inspired by a Breton tale are worth a look, as are the church of Kéraudy, the 18th century Calvary (rue Croaf-Ogès), the Saint-Cado chapel and its polychrome wooden altarpiece and the 17th century cross on the road to Kérauzern. As you wander through Ploumilliau, it is impossible not to notice the many manors that dot its surroundings. In total, more than thirty manor houses are visible in the area of the municipality, such as the Keranglas manor house, the Rozlogod manor house, or those of Gwerginiou, Kerzioud, Keranvod or Keranwern. Lanascol Castle is also one of Ploumilliau's oldest buildings: with its 15th century square tower, dovecote, chapel and 17th and 18th century buildings, this imposing building is easily identifiable in the local landscape.

After this short city walk, head for more "green" hikes along the seaside. It is impossible to stay in Ploumilliau without taking a walk along the splendid cliffs of Trédez-Locquémeau (a small village surrounded by Ploumilliau): spread over more than 2 kilometres to the Pointe de Beg ar Forn, they offer walkers passing through incredible views of Lannion Bay and the sea. On the beach side, Ploumilliau has only one kilometre of coastline, from Poull Madogan's beacon to the beaches of the neighbouring city of Le Yaudet. The very wild Enclaved Beach will be perfect for a quiet swim, while the superb beach of Pont Roux will dazzle you with the magnificence of its panoramas. Finally, if you like water sports, it is in Trébeurden (famous for its pink granite) or Saint-Michel-en-Grève (known for its immense beach) that you should go: in addition to swimming, you can opt for sailing, surfing, paddle, diving, kitesurfing, take advantage of its calm waters to get your boat licence, swim or even learn to swim with fins.
