Enjoy first your stay in the Drôme to visit cities with the prestigious past. In Valence, the prefecture, discover the old town and its historical monuments : the Saint-Apollinaire Romanesque cathedral (11th century), the Saint-Jean-Baptiste church, the Pendentif and the many medieval houses (Dupré-Latour, The Drapier...). But also appreciate the Museum of Art and Archeology, canals of the Roman era and the many green spaces. In Montélimar, you can admire the Puy-Montbrun hotel, the Chateau des Adhémar, the remains of the Gallo-Roman baths, the house of Diane de Poitiers. Also take time to see the museum of the Miniature and the palace of the Bonbons and Nougat.
After these city breaks, take the roads of the department to explore sites impossible to circumvent. On your way to the Vercors Regional Nature Park, take a break in Chabeuil for its beautiful fortified tower and in Léoncel for its splendid Cistercian abbey of the 12th century. To the south of the park, discover Die, its Gallo-Roman ramparts, its cathedral Notre-Dame, its abbey of Valcroissant and its Romanesque mosaic of the four rivers. Then head towards the country of the Baronnies and its fabulous park with the soft reliefs of Provence. Between lavender and pines, discover Montbrun-les-Bains, one of the most beautiful villages in France, and Nyons with its beautiful olive grove, Roman bridge and old castle.
To fully enjoy the nature of the Drôme, do not hesitate to take the many hiking trails and cycle paths that crisscross it. On foot, discover the Col de Vesc and the summit of Sales or follow Huguenots' footsteps on the GR 965. Cycling, cross vineyards and lavender fields while driving along the greenways ViaRhôna, Vélodrôme or the Isère Valley. But also practice the mountain biking along the river Drôme and many other activities such as climbing, paragliding, golf, horseback riding... After a busy day, treat yourself to a new getaway, enjoying tasting Local specialties : caillette, olives of Nyons, creek, chicken with crayfish, Saint-Marcellin, croquettes of Vinsobres, nougat of Montélimar...
