Picturesque, as if frozen in time, Colmar is one of those cities that you should visit at least once in your life. Cultural above all, it fascinates by the splendour of its marked architecture, typical of the region. Enter its old districts to discover its houses with old facades adorned with magnificent half-timbering, houses each more colourful than the next, which give Colmar an adorable side as if taken from a children's tale. The most emblematic place of Colmar is undoubtedly its district of Little Venice. Very popular with visitors, this romantic district invites you tirelessly to take bucolic walks through its colourful houses and its shops with heavy wrought iron signs. Take the Quai de la Poissonnerie and discover the charming little bridges that poetically span the Lauch River. If you prefer river excursions, take a walk along the meanders of the river, to discover the half-timbered houses from the canal, for a privileged stroll that you are sure to remember. Also pass through the Tanneurs district: as you walk along the rue des Marchands, you will discover the tall houses of yesteryear recognizable by their white facades, including the famous Pfister house, built in 1537. It is in this street that Auguste Bartholdi, the sculptor of the Statue of Liberty, was born: you will find a museum, retracing his work, ideal to do with the family. From half-timbered houses to middle-class residences, you will also discover the Adolf House, the oldest in Colmar, without forgetting the splendid 17th century Maison des Têtes, a charming German Renaissance-style building decorated with 111 masks.

Strolling through the pedestrian area of old Colmar, a journey through more than 500 years of history awaits you. Inherited from the Middle Ages, the Collegiate Church of Saint-Martin and the Dominican church (which houses "The Virgin with the rose bush") are two wonderful examples of Gothic architecture, to be discovered during your visit. Colmar is also a perfect place for family holidays. There are many parks and museums that you can visit during your stay in Alsace. Finally, after having taken the time to discover the wonders of local gastronomy with the help of Baeckeoffe, Flammenkueche, sauerkraut, pretzels, spätzles and Kougelhopf, climb on a bike to discover the famous Alsace Wine Route.
