Classified as one of the "Most Beautiful Villages in France", Blesle is located in the Haute-Loire department, on the border with the Puy-de-Dôme and the Cantal. In the heart of the Alagnon valley, this medieval village dominated by imposing basaltic organs is a real gem, renowned for its gentle way of life as well as for its unsuspectedly rich heritage. Here, lovers of beautiful stones will not know where to turn as there is so much to discover. As you walk through the narrow streets of the village of Blesle, you will not be able to miss the half-timbered houses, emblematic of the local landscape. In the heart of the historic centre, the old houses, the flowery alleys and the bridges that poetically span the course of the Alagnon river, which flows through the village, give Blesle an undeniable bucolic charm. As you stroll along, you will not fail to discover the Romanesque abbey church of Saint-Pierre, one of the most protected jewels of this charming medieval town: very large, with splendid sculpted treasures, it is also worth a visit for its paintings and its elaborate ceilings. Built by the Barons of Mercœur around its former Benedictine abbey in the 9th century, the fortress of Blesle still bears some beautiful evidence of this period, such as its keep, its towers, its half-timbered houses, and its surrounding wall pierced with carved doors. What to see? The Massadou Tower, a large 13th-century watchtower that overlooks the entire village and offers a splendid view of both the village's tangled streets and the cliffs that dominate the town. The Tour des Mercœur, also called the "Tour aux vingt angles" is worth a visit, as is the Château des Chavagnac, the church of Saint-Martin, of which only the 14th century bell tower remains, and the Musée de la Coiffe (Museum of Headdress), which houses a collection of more than 700 pieces of costumes and headdresses from the Massif Central, will complete your discovery of the village.

Staggered between 472 and 875 metres in altitude, the village of Blesle with its very uneven terrain is a little Eden for hiking enthusiasts. Its basaltic plateaus, inherited from ancient volcanic eruptions, but also its hillsides and green valleys abound with itineraries through orchards, vineyards and other cereal fields. From the village of Blesle, there are no less than 17 signposted walking and mountain bike routes that will allow you to discover the beauty of the town and its neighbouring communes, via the paths of Saint-Jacques, the "Respirando" path (on the side of the basaltic organs), the Massiac valley, the Cézallier plateau or by following the river. Mini-golf (18 holes), horse riding, fishing in the river, tennis, visits to the villages of Massiac, Brioude, the Château de Lespinasse, the Auvergne Animal Park, the Cavaliers cave, the Secouriou waterfall (15 kilometres away), Besse-et-Saint-Anastaise or Lavaudieu, classified as one of the most beautiful villages in France, will also be added to your holiday "to-do list" if you decide to set down your suitcases in Blesle!
