Located in the heart of the Brocéliande forest, the commune of Paimpont is home to many natural, historical and legendary sites that have been built, developed and preserved over thousands of years. Dolmens, menhirs, anonymous or famous burial mounds emerge from moors and forests. Beyond its thousand-year history, the municipality encompasses almost the entire Brocéliande Forest.
The Legend of King Arthur
The legendary sites of the Brocéliande forest perpetuate the adventures of the knights of the round table. It is in this valley that Lancelot would have broken Morgana's charm. It also houses the tomb of Viviane who made Merlin love her, as well as the Fountain of Youth.
The Abbey of Paimpont
The 13th century abbey church and the treasure of the sacristy are open on the weekend before Easter, every day in summer. Animations and thematic exhibitions are offered as well as concerts every summer. Admission is free and guides are at your disposal throughout the tourist season.
The Forges of Paimpont
They have been open to the public since 2005. Visit of the courtyard of the Forges, former blast furnaces and rolling mills. Major reconstruction work is underway to restore the site to its original appearance. Open every weekend from March, 2pm to 6pm (5€ per person, free for children under 13.)
