Do you dream of discovering Mont-Saint-Michel and its bay classified as one of the "Most Beautiful Bays in the World"? 100% nature excursions, gourmet tastings and memorable cultural visits? Head for Saint-Georges-de-Gréhaigne, located just a few steps from the most beautiful beaches on this historically rich coastline.
"The Couesnon, in his madness, put the Mount in Normandy"... That's what the saying goes. He also "put" the small commune of Saint-Georges-de-Gréhaigne in the Brittany region, at the entrance to the department of Ille-et-Vilaine. Ideally located only 8 kilometres from Mont-Saint-Michel, Saint-Georges-de-Gréhaigne offers you the opportunity to discover the most beautiful corners of this famous bay, but also some of the most elegant seaside resorts on the Côte d'Émeraude. A must? The visit of the Mount, of course. Whether you choose the long crossing via quicksand or a quieter journey via road or hiking trails, each expedition will offer you its share of memories and adventures. The barefoot crossing is rather sporty, but it is also cultural, fun and unforgettable for the youngest, while the hiking, horseback riding and cycling routes will allow you to reach the Mont more quickly, while enjoying the charms of the Breton and Normandy coasts. Once on Mont-Saint-Michel, take the time to enjoy its panoramic view, unspoilable on the immensity of the sea that surrounds it. An exceptional site, the Mont is full of sites and monuments that you will absolutely have to see during your visit. Where to start? Its abbey, undoubtedly: every day, visitors and pilgrims jostle at its door to discover its splendours. To reach it, you will first have to climb the famous "Grande Rue": the only street on the rock, it is dotted with houses typical of the Mont region, built around the 15th and 16th centuries. With its emblematic statue of Saint Michael gilded with fine gold perched at an altitude of 160 metres, Mont Abbey is the very symbol of what some call the "Wonder of the West". In addition to its unique architecture, it is worth a visit for the splendour of its beautifully preserved cloister, an Eden of tranquility and an ideal place to recharge your batteries. Then head towards the restaurant of La Mère Poulard to eat her famous omelette, before observing the tides or opting for a paragliding flight over the island: guaranteed memories!
On the Breton side, we can only recommend a detour to the magnificent seaside resort of Cancale. Known for its famous oysters, this pearl from the Côte d'Émeraude is as delicious with the eyes as it is with the palate. The best way to discover it is to opt for a short walk or bike ride, via its hiking routes and its famous GR34 which winds along the coast towards Pointe du Grouin. Cancale also has six superb beaches: you can swim, fish, canoe, catamaran, sea kayak, sail or stand-up paddle.
