Fons is a real gem in the heart of the Lot department, just ten kilometres from Figeac. Between nature and culture, green interludes and gourmet discoveries, Fons is definitely THE perfect destination for holidays that are a change from traditional destinations.

The small town of Fons is located in the natural region of Limargue, full of landscapes with fabulous contrasts. Fons, also known as Fons-en-Quercy, is one of those destinations with a distinctive architecture, typical of the area, made up of old ochre-coloured stone houses topped with brown tiled roofs of particular charm. Take the time to stroll through the medieval village, lined with old medieval merchants' houses, to soak up its character and history. In terms of monuments, several sites are worth a visit: the Romanesque church of Saint-André de Fons, the church of Notre-Dame du Roitelet, as well as the superb Maison Réveillac and the magical Château du Roc. Built in 1570, this main building topped by two high towers is worth a visit for its authentic architecture, which has earned it the status of Historic Monument since 1993.

To make sure you don't miss out on anything during your visit, the commune of Fons has five walking routes, suitable for everyone, ranging from 20 minutes to 2.5 hours. The Chemin de Ronde, the Chemin d'Aubiguières, the Chemin de Fau, the Sols de Fons and the Côte de la Maladie à Bonhomme will allow you to discover the village from every angle, in the direction of the Château du Roc, Gramat or Figeac.

Figeac is a must-see in the area! As well as Cabrerets, the timeless and gourmet Rocamadour, Saint-Cirq-Lapopie, Padirac and Lacave... All these historic towns are worth a visit for their fantastic architecture, but also for their legendary caves! In Padirac, a thousand-year-old abyss awaits you, while in Lacave, you can visit limestone caves dating from the Jurassic period, comfortably installed on board a small electric train.

Finally, it is impossible to stay in the Lot without discovering its rich gastronomy. On the menu? A whole host of delicacies that will awaken the taste buds of the whole family! Walnut pie and cake, cabbage ravioli with truffles, pastis Lotois, Rocamadour casserole, melon pie, Rocamadour pie, duck, lamb, saffron, Quercy wine... All in all, something to delight gourmets and the most demanding palates!
