What if for this holiday you opt for peace and quiet? For a break away from it all, in harmony with nature? A perfect holiday to get away from it all, to fill up on fresh air and adventure... Are you tempted? Pack your bags and head for Soturac in the Occitanie region!
Nestled in the hollow of one of the Lot's meanders, Soturac is located on the border with the Lot-et-Garonne department. About fifty minutes west of Cahors, this Quercy town, on the edge of the Bouriane, is wedged between the waters of the Thèze and the Lot. Soturac is the ideal place for those who dream of a holiday away from the hustle and bustle of the big tourist destinations. Here, we like to live quietly, and take the time to enjoy the mild sunny days. A wine-growing area, here, we produce AOC Cahors wine, and we love the simple pleasures of life. As far as heritage is concerned, the commune boasts architecture typical of the region, with beautiful old houses such as the Maison Forte de Ségadènes, as well as numerous churches, such as the church of Notre-Dame-de-la-Nativité de Couvert, the church of Saint-Pierre de Soturac and the church of Saint-Pierre-ès-Liens, both of which are listed in the general inventory of the Occitanie region.
As for activities, you can opt for a game of pétanque with friends or for beautiful walks and cycle rides through the village and its surroundings. To the north of the village, we recommend that you head for the Château de Bonaguil. Located in the neighbouring department of Lot-et-Garonne, this marvellous 13th century castle offers breathtaking views of the Lot valley from its promontory. Further south of the village of Soturac, the walks are particularly pleasant along the course of the Lot, which you can explore on foot or by bike as you wish. Some sites are worth a visit, such as the Orgueil lock or the Touzac lock on the outskirts of the town. Fishermen and hikers are also invited to take a walk around the Lac du Marou, renowned for its abundance of carp, roach and other trout, and which makes a wonderful spot for a quiet picnic for two or a family.
Finally, the Lot valley being punctuated with remarkable sites, there are many places to visit during your stay: Cahors and its Pont Valentré, the fortress of Gavaudun, the elegant Château de Fumel, the Château de Biron, but also the vineyards of Cahors, the medieval town of Puy-l'Évêque, Villeneuve-sur-Lot or Villefranche-du-Périgord will complete your stay in the green, in the area of Soturac
