Born from the merger of two communes, Bouillon and Saint-Michel-les-Loups, Jullouville owes its name to Armand Jullou who had the idea, in 1882, to develop a station along the coast. In the heart of the seaside resort, enjoy the old Casino Hotel which was built in 1883 and the fisheries, stone constructions on the seashore that used to catch fish and shellfish. In the village of Bouillon, go see the church of Saint-Jean-Baptiste and the surprising apple tree which grew on its bell tower, several meters high. You can also admire the Rainfray manor (16th century) and the Château de la Mare (19th century) which served as the headquarters of the Allied forces during the 1944 landing. Then go to Saint-Michel-les-Loups to visit the beautiful 16th century church.
In the heart of Normandy, Jullouville is also an ideal destination for walking or cycling. For example, take the Douaniers trail to admire the Champeaux cliffs which, according to Eisenhower, are "the most beautiful kilometre in France". Then go to the Lucerne forest and stop off at the Lucerne Abbey, founded in 1143. But many other routes await you !
