Near Lake Geneva and Mont Blanc, in the Chablais and Valais massifs, the Portes Du Soleil invite you into a vast cross-border domain. Between France and Switzerland, you can cross the border without realizing it by appreciating, on each slope, the beauty of the Alps.
The history of the Portes du Soleil began in 1956 when the construction of a first link made it possible to pass from France to Switzerland without leaving one's skis. But the real birth date of the estate dates back to 1964 when Jean Vuarnet presented the project to link all the resorts in the valleys of Abondance, Aulps and Illiez. It will be 50 years before this idea is fully realized. Today, the Portes du Soleil group 15 alpine resorts and villages. On the Swiss side, you will appreciate the sites of Champéry, Champoussin, Les Crosets, Val d'Illiez, Morgins or Torgon. On the French side, you will also fall under the charm of the village resorts of Abondance, Avoriaz, Châtel, La Chapelle-d'Abondance, Les Gets, Montriond, Morzine, Saint-Jean-d'Aulps and La Grande-Terche.
With 286 pistes, 196 ski lifts and an abundance of powder snow, the Portes du Soleil invite you to discover skiing without borders by covering 600 kilometres of pistes on which you can slalom on the French-Swiss border. Experienced skiers will be able to freeride on large expanses of virgin snow and beginners will appreciate the many areas reserved for learning. To get the full sensations, go in one of the 11 snowparks or one of the 4 boardercross of the domain or initiate yourself to speed-riding. But also enjoy the mountain by taking the 210 kilometres of cross-country ski trails or the 385 kilometres of snowshoe trails.
In summer, the Portes du Soleil offer many other activities. On foot, admire the fabulous peaks and magnificent landscapes as you walk along the 800 kilometres of marked trails. Join the Lac des Écoles geosite or discover the Morzinette loop. The domain is also a real Eldorado for mountain bikers who will enjoy 50 downhill trails, an MTB Enduro and e-bike tour of 80 kilometers and 5 internationally renowned Bike Parks. But many other leisure activities await you: climbing, via ferrata, white water sports, accrobranche, geocaching...
