In the department of Tarn-et-Garonne, between Montauban and Cahors, the small village of Cayriech blossoms along the Lère valley. Classified 4 flowers, Cayriech is charm in its most raw state, without cheating or embellishments. Here, the houses are half-timbered, made of old stones in warm colours, which give the village a crazy cachet. Cayriech is a land of hiking, nestled in a green setting conducive to outdoor activities, with on one side the Causse de Limogne and on the other the wonderful fertile hills of Bas-Quercy. The built heritage of the town is also worth a visit, so it is impossible to visit Cayriech without passing by its church dedicated to Saint-Barthélemy, its old mills, and its town centre which houses many dovecotes, current witnesses of the rise of the town which was once famous for its hemp culture.

But the major asset of Cayriech is above all its location. Situated between the Lot valley and the Gorges de l'Aveyron, Cayriech is close to major tourist sites such as Cahors, Cordes-sur-Ciel, Saint-Antonin-Noble-Val and Saint-Cirq-Lapopie. Along the Lot river, Cahors (37 kilometres away) is an essential stopover for your stay. With its medieval atmosphere and sunshine always present, Cahors has many places and monuments to see, along its medieval streets full of charm. Its emblematic and fortified 14th century Valentré bridge, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site, but also its Saint-Etienne cathedral and its small boats that sail along the meanders of the Lot make it a must see. Overlooking the Lot valley and the river, Saint-Cirq-Lapopie (34 kilometres away) is also worth a visit. A listed village, absolutely fascinating, it has attracted many painters and writers through its history, such as the poet André Breton. Rich in a very old history, the village marvels as much for its unique architecture as for the grandiose panoramas that it allows you to discover. In the same vein, the bastide town of Cordes-sur-Ciel (42 kilometres away) is a real gem: with its very marked Gothic heritage, its sloping cobbled streets, its arcaded houses and its old stones, this town of Art and History has something to turn heads. The old medieval town of Saint-Antonin-Noble-Val and its Bosc cave on the borders of Quercy and Rouergue (16 kilometres away), Penne and its splendid castle (33 kilometres away), Cabrerets and its Pech Merle cave (43 kilometres away), Najac and its royal fortress (42 kilometres away), Villefranche-de-Rouergue (46 kilometres away) and the very sporty Gorges de l'Aveyron (less than 45 minutes away), ideal for climbing, canyoning and hiking, will complete your stay in Cayriech.
