In the south-west of the Var, this small village of character perched in the heart of the Provençal valleys conceals many treasures to be discovered during your holidays. Housed on a hill facing the village of Le Castellet, overlooking vineyards and wooded valleys, La Cadière-d'Azur never ceases to captivate the hearts of holidaymakers passing through its walls. Renowned for its breathtaking views over the Provencal countryside and the Mediterranean, this medieval village, scented with the pine trees that dot the landscape, thrives in a preserved environment. Its built heritage is as much a part of it as its abundant nature. A fortified town, Cadière-d'Azur is made up of alleyways and other lively and sunny streets, but also beautiful terraces and tall houses with flowered balconies. The iron clock which has dominated the whole village since 1551, but also the 16th century Saint-Jean gate, the Colle and Mazarine gates, and the old ramparts which surrounded the historic heart of the village are among the oldest buildings in La Cadière. Go through the rue de l'hôpital to discover the Sainte-Magdeleine chapel built on the ruins of a feudal castle, and discover the Saint-André church: built in the 16th century, it is known to house the oldest bell in the Var, which dates back to 1458. Also take a walk around the Place Jean Jaurès: recognizable by its tall plane trees, it is dotted with old shops and galleries of craftsmen. Push the door of one of them to discover the art of ironwork, painting on wood or leather, earthenware, weaving, jewellery, or the restoration of Provencal costumes.

The main asset of La Cadière-d'Azur is its preserved environment. Whether you are a lover of leisurely walks or a seasoned sportsman, you are bound to find what you are looking for. The Défend forest is the ideal place for walking, jogging or mountain biking, thanks to a whole network of marked trails (including the botanical trail and the GR51) that will lead you to discover the most beautiful panoramas that La Cadière has to offer on the Mediterranean.

The beaches of Saint-Cyr-sur-Mer and La Ciotat are only about ten kilometres from La Cadière-d'Azur, so it will be easy for you to go there every day if you wish, to enjoy the joys of the Mediterranean coast.
