The sun, the beaches nearby, a generous nature to which is added a welcoming and friendly atmosphere... That's what awaits you if it's in Avrillé, in the Vendée, that you put your suitcases down.

About ten kilometres from the beaches of Jard-sur-Mer and twenty minutes from those of La Tranche-sur-Mer, the small town of Avrillé is in the Vendée department, in the Pays de la Loire region. Rich in ancient history, the village's origins date back to the Neolithic period, as evidenced by the presence of many megaliths on its territory, such as the Menhir de la Boilière. A dynamic destination par excellence, Avrillé enjoys an ideal location to allow families as well as seasoned sportsmen and women to spend wonderful holidays under the Vendean sun. To begin with, there is nothing like visiting the heart of the town. Built at the very end of the 11th century on the ruins of a former priory, the church of Saint-Pierre is without a doubt the most emblematic monument of the town. With its two side chapels, the Virgin and Child of the 15th century and its imposing bell tower, it is one of the must-sees of your stay. As you stroll through the village, you will be able to cross the road of an old wash-house built in the middle of the 19th century, the Old Well which dates from the Bronze Age, and the superb market halls built in place of an old Merovingian cemetery, where many fairs and markets are held. It is also impossible not to come across one of the 9 menhirs that adorn Avrillé. The most famous of them, the "King of Menhirs" in blue granite, a colossus weighing almost 85,000 kilos, is the largest in the Vendée and is located in the heart of the Camp de César which you can visit at your leisure during your stay in Avrillé.

But what attracts families to Avrillé is its Château de la Guignardière, better known as the Château des Aventuriers. Equipped with a historical circuit, trails for the youngest, a western village, a haunted house, challenges, courses full of riddles and an eco-course of menhirs, this Renaissance castle classified as a Historical Monument is surrounded by a fun and sporting park will undoubtedly conquer both adults and children. In addition, its French garden and wooded park will be perfect for bucolic breaks for lovers!

While passing through Avrillé, take the opportunity to visit the magnificent beaches of the Vendean coast. About ten kilometres away, the superb beach of Les Conches in Longeville-sur-Mer, the splendid beach of Veillon in Talmont-Saint-Hilaire, or the long, family-friendly beaches of Jard-sur-Mer are perfect for a break from the sea. Young and old alike will be able to swim there, but also enjoy a whole range of water activities according to their desires, from paddling to sailing, including surfing, longe-côte, water skiing, boat trips, hiking along the water's edge...
