Land of vineyards and gastronomy, Burgundy has many other treasures. Between majestic cities, castles, Roman abbeys, Gallic sites, rivers, lakes and canals, your vacations will be placed under the sign of diversity and discovery.
Cities of art and history or small towns of character, the cities of Burgundy invite you to discover their magnificent heritage. In Dijon, stroll through the preserved city center and take the time to visit the Palace of the Dukes of Burgundy, the Saint-Bénigne cathedral, the Jacquemart tower and the numerous museums. In Auxerre, fall under the spell of the many medieval houses, the Manifacier covered passage, the episcopal palace and the Saint-Etienne cathedral, a superb gothic building. Then go to Nevers (cathedral with two apse, Saint-Martin abbey, ducal palace...), to Mâcon (Saint-Vincent cathedral, Senecé hotel, Cordeliers and Ursulines convents...) without forgetting to make a detour to Beaune (Hôtel-Dieu, collegiate church...) and to Sens (cathedral, synodal palace...)
Then take the numerous wine roads to appreciate the diversity of Burgundy's terroirs. Between Chablis, Côte de Nuits, Côte de Beaune or Beaujolais, you will quickly be conquered. On the way, make a few stops in some historical places. Visit the numerous archeological sites that retrace the epic of the Gauls, in Bibracte, Alesia or Autun. You can also admire the superb Romanesque abbeys that were established between the 10th and 12th centuries and that remain today the cultural centers of the region: Cluny, Citeaux... But also discover magnificent castles such as those of Bazoches-en-Morvan, Cormatin, Flée or the famous fortress of Guédelon, in Treigny.
With its hilly and green environment, Burgundy also offers an ideal setting to recharge your batteries and get moving. On foot, take advantage of the 6,000 kilometers of marked trails to enjoy the beautiful landscapes of the Morvan massif or the banks of the Loire. By bike, take the Tour de Bourgogne itinerary, an 800 kilometer cycling loop, or the Charles le Téméraire road. But indulge in many other activities such as horseback riding, rock climbing, caving, rafting and refreshing yourself in the many lakes and rivers by practicing water sports. After a busy day, treat yourself to a gourmet break and taste all the local flavors: snails, gougères, beef bourguignon, Bresse poultry, epoisses, ratafia...
