Il Castello (the Aragonese castle) and the Greek fountain are among the other treasures of Gallipoli. While the first testifies to the defensive need of the town in the 15th century in order to fight against invasions, the second testifies to the town's belonging to Greece centuries ago. The Carmine Church, the Church of San Domenico al Rosario and the Gallipoli Museum are also on the list of your visits. On the modern city side, it is the "Palazzo di vetro" that will certainly catch your attention: built in the second half of the 20th century, this splendid glass palace impresses with its architecture, like an immense mirror in the sky, in which the colours of the setting sun are reflected.

After these very urban visits, direction the ports of Gallipoli to take the pulse of this city which lives at the rhythm of the tides. In the commercial port, every morning the same scene is played out, a large fish market; it is the perfect place to do your shopping for dinner, but also to stroll along the stalls studded with colourful fish. After going around the ports, head for the Gallipoli seaside. Along a pleasant, sunny promenade lined with small, discreet restaurants, it offers superb views of the Ionian Sea below. If the daytime ride is worth it, we assure you that it is even more beautiful at sunset: Gallipoli is indeed famous for its sunsets, absolutely magnificent! Bordered by white sand dunes, the beaches of Gallipoli and nearby resorts are ideal for swimming and sunbathing. The spaggia della purita, situated at the foot of the ancient walls (on the historic centre side), will dazzle you with the purity of its water, shallow and ideal for family bathing. Finally, the baia Verde (famous for its festive nights), Pescoluse, or the Punta della Suina flanked by golden sand and turquoise water are warmly recommended both for your tanning sessions and for the practice of nautical activities.
