Sun, palm trees, sand and sea : is there a better postcard for a successful holiday ? If you like this picture, then set a course for Vinaros: on the Mediterranean coast, this seaside resort in the Province of Castellon, in the Community of Valencia, is one of the most popular on the Costa del Azahar.
With its 12 kilometres of absolutely magnificent coastline, Vinaros leaves no one unmoved. From the Sénia river to the Aiguidoliva ravine, there are more than 22 beaches and coves nestled in rocky coves. The intimate and heavenly coves are in the northern and southern part of Vinaros. Protected by cliffs and lined with typical Mediterranean vegetation, they are ideal for long breaks for sunbathing, fishing and scuba diving, such as the "Crique des Timbres", the "Plage du Saldonar", the "Plage des Salines" and the "Crique de la Foradada". The three beaches in the centre are longer : spacious and easily accessible, they are loved by families who come to bathe in large numbers. The "Plage del Clot" is a long beach of fine sand (unlike the coves which are made of small gravel and pebbles) : very touristic, it is located right in the centre of Vinaros, right next to the arenas and the port. Like the "Fora del Forat Beach", surrounded by palm trees, its warm, shallow waters make it a paradise for children who swim safely. On the beaches as in the azure calanques, the water sports are with the appointment. You can go on canoe or kayak excursions, jet-skiing, sailing, paddle, surfing and water skiing. We advise you to take the promenade along the seaside which connects from north to south all the most beautiful beaches of Vinaros. If you don't have a sea foot, don't panic, everything is done so that you can enjoy the many sports facilities of the town. You can go horse riding, golf at the Panoramica Golf de Sant Jordi (11 kilometres away), kart, tennis, squash and hiking. Crossed by the GR 92, the famous Mediterranean hike, Vinaros is a delight for cyclists and walkers. Along the magnificent coast and its natural treasures, or during trips inland, you can reach the fortified town of Peniscola, visit the ravine of Valltorta and its rock paintings, the Sanctuary of Mercy and the coves along the coast. The old town of Vinaros is not without interest, quite the contrary. Its pedestrian city centre is a pleasant place to stroll, perfect for bucolic excursions to the rhythm of the city's main buildings such as the Casa de la Villa, the arenas, the modernist Giner house, the Sendra house, the belfry, the municipal market, the Giner house, the Auditorium and the old fishing port.
Rich in traditions and celebrations, Vinaros is definitely a festive city all year round. From the Good Friday procession to the colourful Carnival of Vinaroz, without forgetting Sant Sebastià, gastronomic festivities, Saint John's Festivities and Easter week, let yourself be carried away by the warm and cheerful atmosphere that takes possession of the city. Famous for its large shrimp, Vinaros even organizes a Shrimp Festival every year during the month of August. Traditional Spanish Mediterranean cuisine, shrimp is on the menu of all the good vinarossenques tables.
