Charm, elegance and dynamism, the municipality of Iznajar, in the province of Córdoba, has everything you need to enjoy a dream holiday. Between cultural discoveries, swimming and hiking, this Andalusian city offers a splendid setting for stays under the Spanish sun.

Perched on its hill between the blue of the water and the sky, Iznajar is one of those small authentic destinations whose secret Andalusia seems jealously guarded. Consisting of beautiful whitewashed houses staggered around its promontory, the commune is dominated by its squat castle. With its rather austere appearance, this feudal castle contrasts with the softness of the Andalusian houses and is a must see during your stay in Iznajar. Built during the 8th century, this Arab castle will offer you from its heights incomparable views of the narrow and winding streets of the city as well as the beaches and the lake.

The Iznajar reservoir, also known as "Valdearenas Beach" or "Lake of Andalusia", is the perfect place to bubble under the sun. But it is also a privileged place for all water sports fans, who will have the opportunity to discover a wide range of sliding sports, from sailing to surfing, jet-skiing, kitesurfing, paddle and canoeing. Are you a thrill seeker? The place is also popular with adrenaline enthusiasts who come all year round to discover Iznajar and its coasts from the air during paragliding flights. Unconditional small quiet coves? Stretching over 30 kilometres long, this immense lake is bordered by multiple intimate creeks perfect for relaxing under the sun far from the crowd!

On foot or by bike, there are many hiking routes that you can take during your stay in Iznajar. The "Las Buitreras" trail and the subbétic greenway are particularly appreciated by holidaymakers: the latter, an old railway track, and is also popular with mountain bike fans thanks to its beautiful trails. The lake also has several splendid viewpoints, including the one of its dam, located in Cuevas de San Marcos: easily accessible from a path starting from the Sierrezuela, it will allow you to discover all the beauty of the Sierra de El Camorro and the lake surrounded by olive trees, almond trees and high holm oaks. The most experienced walkers will gladly head for the Las Sierras Subbéticas Natural Park, accessible from the north of Iznajar: listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2006, this protected geopark shelters forests, fertile lands, gorges, caves (Los Murciélagos 48 kilometres from Iznajar, la Cueva de Belda 25 kilometres away), chasms (such as the Sierra Gallineta chasm), peaks (Pico la Tinosa), canyons and ridges, a vast open-air playground for nature lovers and magnificent landscapes. Finally, if there is one site we recommend you visit, it is the "Mirados de La Cabrera": located about forty kilometres from Iznajar, this perched viewpoint will allow you to contemplate the most beautiful panorama imaginable of the Natural Park of Las Sierras Subbéticas, its green valleys and its mountains.
