Nestled between the coastal Cordillera and the Mediterranean Sea, the Costa del Maresme is a small tourist paradise in Catalonia, located just a few kilometers from Barcelona, where the first railway line of the Iberian peninsula was built in 1848 And Mataró, a technological revolution that has revealed to the locals and holidaymakers the charm of this resplendent coastline, which developed rapidly in the 20th century, and is particularly appreciated by Barcelonans, who often come to enjoy its sunny beaches. Mountains, it enjoys all the year of an ideal climate for the baths of the sea and the idleness.

Formerly known as Iluro, the ancient Roman town of Mataró dominates the coast. The archaeological remains of Torre Llauder reveal the daily life of the inhabitants of this Roman villa. The journey through time continues in the old town and its imposing 16th century ramparts. You will not miss the many modernist houses located on both sides of the town. Many of these masterpieces of the early 20th century come from the architect Puig i Cafaldach, a native of Mataró. The city proudly pays tribute to this artistic heritage at Nau Gaudí, one of the first works of the artist of the same name, which now houses the Museum of Contemporary Art.

The sea that falls on the rocks, the pink-orange sunsets that color every night the cloudless sky... The landscapes of this radiating municipality will appear to you straight out of a postcard. In the center of Calella, the period houses will surprise you. At each corner of the street, the homes of the wealthy families exhibit their facades with multiple artistic styles. Art lovers will take their eyes full, others will remain open-mouthed at the splendor of these buildings.

Day and night, the dynamism of the coast never stops. It is famous for its numerous music festivals which take place between May and November in all the municipalities of Maresme. Whether you're more rock or classical, no worries, there's something for everyone ! Notable among them are the Sant Pol de Mar Jazz Festival, which has attracted fans of the genre for over 40 years. There is also the Calella Screamin Festival, which celebrates the good old rock'n'roll of the 1950s ! The music is not the only attraction because the festival-goers themselves lend themselves to the game and come dressed in the style of the time. Finally, the Santa Florentina Classical Music Festival has been held for more than 15 years in the grand setting of the Can Jalpí castle in Arenys de Munt.
