Fancy a holiday in the heart of nature? A change of scenery, green leisure activities and a break from the crowds? Head for the Bocage Vendéen, and more precisely, the small village of La Boissière-de-Montaigu.

In the heart of the Terres de Montaigu, in the Vendée department, La Boissière-de-Montaigu is located in the Haut Bocage, some forty kilometres from La Roche-sur-Yon and Nantes. A natural land par excellence, this quiet town has a charming heritage, with many old dwellings with thick stone walls. During your stay, take the time to stroll in the heart of the village to discover its beautiful heritage, such as the church of Notre-Dame-de-l'Assomption. The inventory of sites to visit also includes the Château d'Asson, listed as a Historic Monument. Situated overlooking a lake, watered by the Asson stream, this 15th century building is certainly one of the most beautiful in the whole village, which we do not recommend you to visit.

In order not to miss anything of its architectural and natural wealth, the commune of La Boissière-de-Montaigu has many marked trails, perfect for discovering its every secret. The 10.8 kilometre long "Les Logis" path will allow you to visit the village along its old streets and discover the seigneurial residences, via the Pont Léger road and the Allée des Pins Parasols (Parasol Pine Alley). On the road to Treize-Septiers, the Bois des Brosses will be a perfect bucolic parenthesis for family picnics in the middle of the trees and hiking sessions adapted to all walking levels. On the Lac de la Bultière side, 12.9 kilometres of walking and cycling trails will allow you to enjoy a break in the coolness of the lake. Housed in the heart of a magnificent, wild and preserved area of more than 72 hectares, this artificial lake is adored by families who come here to bubble in peace and quiet, and by sports enthusiasts who take advantage of its nautical base. Numerous aquatic activities are available on the lake, from canoeing to stand up paddle, without forgetting rowing, kayaking, adventure courses, but also sensational activities such as slack line, friendly sports such as the orientation course, and precision sports such as archery.

Finally, a few visits in the area of La Boissière-de-Montaigu are worth the detour. The 12th century Château de Tiffauges, overlooking the Crume River (9 kilometres away), deserves a short stopover both for its architecture and for its legends around Bluebeard. Cholet is also worth a day trip, as is Nantes, a famous city known for its imposing architectural and cultural heritage... And the village of Clisson will be a must for lovers of old stones and metal, who come in large numbers every summer to attend the famous Hellfest festival. In short, you will have understood it: La Boissière-de-Montaigu is a small, quiet village, but ideally located, and ideal for dynamic, green and family holidays!
