Dubrovnik, the fortified pearl of the Adriatic, at the foot of the Srd mountain (pronounced "Seurdge" in French, or "Mont Serge"), stands out with its stone houses, imposing ramparts and pink tiled roofs from Toulouse. Dubrovnik is also home to many wonders, which we recommend you discover during your walks. Stroll to the rhythm of its romantic cobbled streets to immerse yourself in the atmosphere of the city, and discover the amazing beauty of its many monuments and historic sites that will leave you speechless. Romanesque, Renaissance and Gothic buildings dot the city, such as the Franciscan Monastery and its pharmacy dating from 1317 (still in use today), the Dominican Monastery and its 15th century cloister, the sumptuous Sponza Palace, or the Rector's Palace known for its arcades and splendid staircases. The Porte Pile is one of the most beautiful gateways to the old city: emblematic of Dubrovnik, it is surmounted by a statue of Saint-Blaise, the city's patron saint. You will also find many representations of Saint-Blaise scattered throughout Dubrovnik, in the form of statues or paintings. Walking under the Porte Pile, you can discover the magnificent and imposing Onofrio fountain: perfect place to relax in the freshness of its water, this surprising fountain takes the form of a large cupola decorated with original mouldings. If there is one street not to be missed, it is Stradun Street (pronounced "stradoun"), the most famous street in Dubrivnok renowned for its monuments and treasures: linking the Pile Gate and the Onofrio Fountain to the statue of Roland, this paved street, 292 metres long, is the largest in the city. It is full of shops of all kinds, bars and restaurants where you can sit down for lunch or dinner. However, do not hesitate to discover the small arteries parallel to the latter, less frequented and just as charming. At the end of this alley, do not pass by the statue of Roland, one of Dubrovnik's emblems: for the little cultural anecdote, the city's merchants used to use the length of his arm, called the "ragusan bend", to measure their fabrics.

But to embrace all the splendours of historic Dubrovnik, it is on its ramparts that you will have to climb. About 2 kilometres long, they will offer you absolutely superb 360° panoramas of the alleys, churches, the Cathedral of the Assumption, the monasteries and gardens that shape the city. We recommend that you take this walk in the morning to avoid the crowd and the sometimes overwhelming heat, or at sunset, to enjoy breathtaking colourful landscapes. You can also see two fortresses in the distance on the outskirts of the city, one on the east side in Revelin, and the other in Lovrijenac, not far from the Porte Pile. For another incomparable view of Dubrovnik, climb its cable car: connecting the Ploce district to Mount Srd, it will offer you from its summit perched at an altitude of 405 metres a unique view of the entire city. Here too, we recommend that you go there at sunrise or sunset, for even more magic. From this point of view, you can also contemplate the Adriatic, the island of Lokrum and the Elaphite Islands offshore, accessible by boat from the old port of Dubrovnik.

With its clear waters and rather high temperatures during the summer months, Dubrovnik is also known as the ideal place for a refreshing sea bath in the shade of its fragrant pines. While most beaches are made of pebbles, Dubrovnik's coastline still has some fine sandy beaches, perfect for family activities. There is a wide range of sports on the beaches of Dubrovnik, and you will inevitably find something to enjoy your sunny days: from table tennis to scuba diving on Copacabana beach, jet-skiing, windsurfing, parachuting, water polo, bungee jumping, swimming and sailing, to name but a few examples. Not far from the walls of the old town, Banje beach is one of the most beautiful in the world: with its view of the ramparts, pebbles and turquoise water, it is very popular with holidaymakers. The island of Lokrum also has a number of heavenly beaches, sometimes family and sometimes naturist, which will offer you wonderful views of Dubrovnik.
