Vierville-sur-Mer is situated in the department of Calvados, in Normandy. In the west of the Bessin, 20 kilometres from Bayeux, this commune on the Normandy coast is without doubt one of the most popular destinations for tourists in this area. Ideally situated on the D-Day landing beaches, Vierville-sur-Mer offers its visitors a magnificent setting to discover, with incredible views over the waters of the English Channel. If the name of this village does not ring a bell at first sight, you will certainly know the history of its famous beach, Omaha Beach, the scene of the Allied landings on the morning of 6th June 1944. Like its neighbours Saint-Laurent-sur-Mer, Colleville-sur-Mer and Arromanches-les-Bains, the town of Vierville-sur-Mer has many sites that will allow you to (re)discover the history of the Second World War. To see? The remains of an old artificial bridge Mulberry built by American troops, or the DDay Omaha Museum: telling the story of the village at the time of the Second World War, it will reveal the backstage of the D-Day with exhibitions of period equipment, including barges, an armored turret, tanks or the Enigma encoder.

If the town is marked by history, it is also a dynamic destination that has managed to make its past an asset. Thus, every year, on June 6th, the commemorations of the D-Day landings are organized, to perpetuate the memory of the soldiers fallen for the liberation of France. But that's not all, since throughout the summer, Vierville-sur-Mer comes alive with horse-drawn rides along the seafront, fairs, and the "Omaha Festiv'" rock festival, during which you can listen to numerous rock bands facing the sea. Moreover, note that on the beach of Vierville-sur-Mer, the activities do not miss! In addition to lazing by the sea and swimming, you can learn to practice sand yachting, paragliding, paddle, kayaking, but you can also hike along the coast towards the Pointe du Hoc, play tennis, horseback riding, or take the time to enjoy the delights of Norman cuisine (cheese, Norman pancakes, teurgoule) in front of the sea ... What a great way to complete this stay!
