A star seaside resort in South Corsica, this preserved little paradise will amaze you and, there is a good chance, make you want to come back, again and again, to stay on the Isle of Beauty.

At the foot of the Bavella peaks, on the warm waters of eastern Corsica, the seaside resort of Solenzara belongs to the municipality of Sari-Solenzara. Watered by the eponymous river, it takes place halfway between Porto-Vecchio and Aléria, on the Côte des Nacres. Quiet, perfect for travellers looking for tranquility, this small traditional village is one of those authentic destinations on the Isle of Beauty, made of old stone churches, traditional houses and beautiful squares decorated with fountains.

But what to do in Solenzara? You will have only the embarrassment of choice: a short stroll in the city, a swim in the warm and transparent waters of its river (famous for its many natural turquoise pools), or an excursion in its hinterland, to discover magnificent mountain panoramas. Where to go? Follow the guide! And above all... follow the water that winds through the valleys that surround the town. Particularly green, the hinterland of Solenzara is a preserved setting, abundantly watered by its streams, perfect for those who love walking with their noses up in the air. Keep your eyes open, on the Monte Santu side, it is not uncommon to meet the famous Corsican sheep and some birds of prey, and we assure you that the panoramas on the sea and the mountains are breathtaking! The Belvedere of La Penna is worth a visit for its view of the sea, as are the Punta di Malanda and its splendid waterfalls, the wonderful Cascades of Purcaraccia, as well as the magnificent Aiguilles de Bavella, located just thirty kilometres from Solenzara. Still inland, near the amazing Cascades de Polischellu, only 10 kilometres from Notre-Dame-des-Neiges, the Gorges de la Vacca will delight water sports enthusiasts who can canyon and do many other water sports.

The seaside of Solenzara contrasts with the village; here, the atmosphere is festive on the port, the atmosphere is warm, friendly, and you can easily go there to enjoy its restaurants and bars with views of the sea and boats. From there, you can also board a boat for a few hours or a day for a cruise to discover the coast, towards Conca, Lecci, Solaro or the city of Porto-Vecchio, located 40 kilometres away. It is also impossible to stay in Solenzara without putting your towel on the fine sand of its beaches. The emblematic Scaffa Rossa (in Solaro) is a must see, as is the small cove of Funtanaccia or the pebble beach of Cala d'Oro. Finally, end your trip with a day (and a sunset!) on Canella beach: with its long, very long stretch of fine sand, this little corner of paradise will dazzle you with the beauty of its setting, worthy of the most beautiful postcards. Turquoise water and abundant vegetation, what more could you ask for?
