Fascinating: this is a wonderful description of the small town of Vico. Ideally located in South Corsica, in the heart of a particularly rich and preserved nature, Vico is a green (or blue) break that will satisfy lovers of hiking, swimming and breathtaking panoramas.

Between Cargèse and Ajaccio, Vico is certainly one of the most beautiful destinations in South Corsica. Surrounded by laricio pines, holm oaks and chestnut trees that line the department's medium-sized mountains, Vico is the perfect place to pack your bags, although you will of course not like the abundant vegetation, cultural visits and long beaches of fine sand. Marked by history, Vico is a former religious centre of the Middle Ages, as well as a high place of resistance, from the time of the clashes against the Republic of Genoa in the 15th century. From its rich past, the municipality has managed to preserve splendid buildings, such as the old Saint-Appien de Sagone cathedral: built during the 12th century on the remains of an early Christian building, this monument, now in ruins, is one of the oldest in all Vico. The convent of Saint-François (15th century) and its 4 cloisters, but also the church of Saint-François, the church of Sainte-Marie or the many chapels that dot the town are worth a visit. But if there is one site to see, it is the Genoese Tower of Sagone: erected facing the sea, this 17th century tower which once served to protect the island from invasions offers its visitors a breathtaking view of the coast lined with azure water.

Vico is also a real little paradise of nature, all the best for escape and outdoor activities. In the heart of the Sposata Mountains, the "Giru de la Nesa" trail is particularly interesting: it will lead you along a small river, to discover everything that gives this village its charm and character. Trails will lead walkers to the Vico coast, lined with perfect coastal routes to discover all the most beautiful faces of Vico, which has beautiful small secret coves. Along the Trio hills, via the Punta di Trio, or the Capu a u Bellu, you will discover all the amazing magnificence of this small corner of Corsica.

Finally, do you dream of turquoise water and clear sandy beaches? Direction the Gulf of Sagone: about fifteen minutes from the city centre of Vico, the seaside resort of Sagone, attached to Vico, is the ideal place to relax under the legendary Corsican sun. In all, 13 kilometres of beaches, each more beautiful than the next, await you. You can choose from scuba diving (the clear waters of Corsica are perfect for it!), water skiing, windsurfing, or even boat trips across the bay of Sagone, sea trips that may allow you to discover Piana and its legendary breathtaking coves, or the Scandola nature reserve, known for its sea beds enamelled with coral reefs and abundant marine life.
