The commune of Prats-du-Périgord is located in the Dordogne department in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region. On the borders of the Haut Angenais and the Lot, this charming village is located in the heart of the chestnut country, in the extreme south of the Périgord Noir. Bordered by the meanders of the Lémance river which has its source a few steps away, the village is built around its imposing lock with its wall bell tower, which gives visitors the opportunity to admire its ancient bells.

Land of history, the Périgord is a small paradise for those who love ancient castles. In the Prats-du-Périgord area, you can visit a whole host of them if you feel like it! What to see? The magnificent Château des Milandes, the very old Château de Sauveterre-la-Lémance, the elegant Château de Biron, the splendid Château de la Malatrie 25 kilometres further north, or the imposing Château de Bonaguil 25 minutes drive south of the village. For those who prefer to stay in the village, you should know that Prats-du-Périgord is home to an ancient castle, the Château de Prats: built in the 16th century opposite the village's Romanesque church, this large building is flanked by a large keep with machicolations and a circular tower, a massive architecture characteristic of buildings of the time in the region.

Land of adventure, Prats-du-Périgord is known for its Nordic walking park, full of marked out circuits with information panels, which aim to help sportsmen and women in their practice, whether it is playful or more intense. These routes will take you along the banks of the Lémance, in the heart of a forest planted with deciduous trees in the pleasant shade on hot summer days. There are three routes, one of 6.7 kilometres (green), a second of 9.4 kilometres (blue) and a third of 12 kilometres (red).

Finally, a stay in the Périgord Noir would not be complete without a visit to the unmissable Sarlat-la-Canéda and an introduction to its gastronomic delights! On the menu? Goose or duck foie gras from the Périgord, black truffles, ceps, walnuts, cabécou, strawberries, Périgord lamb, chestnuts and other local wines will make your taste buds travel!
