Alixan is a circular medieval village in the Drôme department, crossed by the ancient Roman road that linked Vaison la Romaine to Vienne. Just next to Valence, under the course of the Isère, this charming village is as authentic as you could wish for and brilliantly mixes postcard scenery, nature and picturesque character. What to escape and fill up with fresh air for a family or romantic vacation!

Wrapped around its molasse hill, the village of Alixan is located between 163 and 224 meters of altitude. Its main asset is undoubtedly its heritage that you will have the opportunity to discover during your walks. Close your eyes and imagine: beautiful arches, monumental stairs, beautiful stones and mountains... Are you there? Does it make you want to? Also to take advantage as it should be of the charms of Alixan, take time to lose yourself in the streets of the village, and climb on the hillock where are perched the town hall and the church, to contemplate beautiful points of view on the village. The town hall is actually located in an old castle from the 10th century; from its original building, only a tower and underground passages remain, from which the molasse stone was extracted and used to build the houses of the village. The church of Saint-Didier (Romanesque style, located on the former courtyard of the castle) dates from the 12th century, while the church of Saint-Didier d'Alixan, in Gothic style, is worth a visit for its pebbled structure and its monumental staircase. You can also discover the Château de Vaudelas, the Château de Feraillon, the fortified farm of Beaulieu from the 16th century or the Clos Saint-Georges from the 19th century.

A small Eden of tranquility, far from the beaten track, Alixan is a real gem for lovers of green holidays. In the area, there are many things to see! And the list is long: the Abbey of Notre-Dame de Triors, Châteauneuf-sur-Isère, Valence, the Pic belvedere, the Roman Bridge, the Train de l'Ardèche, without forgetting the viewpoint on the Rhone plain, the Barcelona Tower and the Mirador de Leoncel will not fail to delight lovers of old stones and contemplative hikes. In addition to hiking, you can also opt for a golf session at the Golf de Valence Saint-Didier, or for water sports on the Isère river!
