And if, like us, this brief description has already made you want to pack your bags, take the time to read this little guide before setting sail for Montbrun-les-Bains!

Perched between 568 and 1362 metres above sea level on a hill overlooking valleys dotted with lavender, the village of Montbrun-les-Bains faces the Mont Ventoux. In the heart of the Parc Naturel des Baronnies Provençales, in the south-east of the Drôme, this old village, sheltered from the mistral wind and the heat waves, is a real paradise of tranquillity at any time of the year. An old medieval village classified as one of the Most Beautiful Villages in France, Montbrun-les-Bains is appreciated by visitors for the splendour of its architecture. Here, the houses are old and high, very high, made of old dry stones which poetically decorate ancestral alleyways. The staircases and cobblestones, but also the numerous fountains that dot the village bear witness to the rich medieval past of the commune, which tirelessly invites you to take a romantic and quiet stroll within its walls. How can you fail to fall under the spell of its ancient heritage? Its belfry is inevitably worth the detour: also called "Tour de l'Horloge", this 13th century belfry was one of the 4 fortified gates of the town, and marks the entrance to the old village of Montbrun-les-Bains. It will lead you in the direction of small charming lanes which go along the side of the church of the XIIth century built with the ramparts, recognized for the splendour of its building, its woodworks and its decorations. Next, head for the ruins of the Renaissance castle: made up of 4 round towers, 3 of which are still in a good state of preservation, this castle, in addition to its architecture, is worth a visit to contemplate from its high perched promontory an unobstructed panorama over the valleys planted with vines, olive trees, colourful and fragrant lavender, with the most famous peak in Provence, Mont Ventoux, in the background. To the list of things to visit while passing through Montbrun-les-Bains, we can also add the 14th century Portail Sainte-Marie, as well as the sentier des Fontaines which will allow you to discover a bucolic itinerary along the 16 fountains that are located in the village.

But if Montbrun-les-Bains is so appreciated by visitors, note that it is also the curists. A renowned spa, specializing in the treatment of respiratory tract, rheumatology and fitness cures, it enjoys the good reputation of its waters with beneficial properties and this, since Roman times! Thanks to its thermal spa located at the foot of the fortified town, you can enjoy its whirlpools, its hammam, its solarium, its sauna, its panoramic outdoor jacuzzis, as well as the wide range of treatments provided within these thermal baths (modelling, massages, aquagym classes, beauty care...). Cocooning sessions that will complete your stay during a well-deserved break!
