About thirty kilometres north of Brest, on the edge of the English Channel, Guissény's origins go back, far back, to the time of Prehistory. Located in the heart of the Quillimadec estuary, which it shares with its neighbour Kerlouan, Guissény seduces as much as it fascinates. Rich of a fascinating history, this commune of the Pays Pagan has indeed a whole pleiad of historical sites present on its territory, which we strongly recommend you to discover, to know everything about the Guissény of yesterday and today. But what to see? Its parish enclosure surrounded by cut stones, its chapel of the Immaculate Conception, its two Calvaries, the chapel of Brendaouez on the religious side, but also the old fountain made of cut stones near the old Saint-Gildas chapel, as well as its three stelae from the Iron Age. On the architectural heritage side, during your walks, you will discover all the charm of this old town studded with a myriad of manors, mills and other castles with typical Breton architecture. Mullioned windows, coats of arms, sculpted doors and massive cut stones are easily identifiable, like the castle of Penmar'ch, the manors of Kerangoff or the Hellez-Kergoniou. In the hamlet of Brendaouez, you will see beautiful buildings such as the "Hostel du Presbytère", the Beauregard manor, and old manor houses that still exist today here and there in most of the villages of Guissény.

On the seaside, the guardhouse is a must to see. Built during the 17th century like most of the guard houses that flourished along the Breton coast to protect it from invasions, it offers from its stones an incomparable panorama of the sea, as captivating by day as it is at nightfall. In order not to miss anything of the splendour of the coast, the commune has many marked paths, such as the GR34 which runs all along Brittany from one end to the other. Called the "Sentier des Douaniers" (Customs Trail) because it links all the guard houses together, this path will take you from the Pointe de Nodeven to the Bay of Tresseny, via the port of Curnic, the guard house of Nodeven or the splendid Natura 2000 area of Guissény, renowned for its massive fauna and abundant flora.

Very little known by holidaymakers, far away from the resorts hit by seaside tourism, Guissény has beautiful beaches, huge beaches even, very little frequented, where you can stroll without worrying about your neighbour with his towel stuck too close. From the beach of Curnic to the Grèves de la Croix, via the beach of Nod Even, those of Les Garennes, Le Dibenou, the creek of Beg ar C'hastell and those of Barrachou, you will have a wide choice! Lazing around, sunbathing, reading, sand castle competitions, swimming, but also kayaking, windsurfing, SUP and sand yachting from the nautical base of Curnic beach will complete your stay in Guissény!
