The star peninsula of the Pays Bigouden, Ile-Tudy is an old fishing village located at the entrance to the estuary of the river Pont-l'Abbé. In the department of Finistère, on the eponymous peninsula just opposite Loctudy, L'Île-Tudy has long been considered as one of the most important fishing ports of South Finistère, developing thanks to the establishment of canneries from the 19th century, now closed. Now a marina, the village on the harbour side has retained its incredible picturesque character, with beautiful fishermen's houses and beaches that have attracted many families since the mid-20th century. To capture the essence of this village with its immeasurable charm, take the time to visit its old town, starting with its church dedicated to Saint-Tudy, a former hermit who became a monk and was a key player in the Christianisation of Brittany in the 5th and 6th centuries. If the church is worth a visit, it is as much for its construction as for the numerous statues it houses, and its splendid stained glass windows. You will also discover on the seafront the emblematic fishermen's houses mentioned above, easily recognizable thanks to their white facades and blue shutters, most of which were built in the 15th and 16th centuries. From narrow streets to winding paths, you will discover a calvary, beautiful mansions such as the house of Maître de Barque, the Maison de la Tour recognizable by its square tower of three floors, or the Maison de la Pointe which houses exhibitions and is worth a visit for its superb panorama on the river of Pont-l'Abbé. The Place de la Cale is also worth a look, a shopping centre and a well-known festival site, which attracts a large number of events during the summer. On the sea side, the Joueur de Luth at 12 rue de la Pointe is worth the detour, as is the cale des Américains, formerly used for seaplanes of the American navy and today a launching dock for pleasure boats.

In terms of activities, it is impossible to get bored on the island. There is a bowling alley, cinema, mini-golf in the heart of a wooded park, as well as football and basketball courts on the beach, tennis courts, swimming pool and other fun activities that are sure to delight the whole family. From the beaches of L'Île-Tudy, you can not only swim and relax (on the beach of Sillon in particular), but also opt for a whole range of activities at sea: sea walks around the emblematic lighthouse of the Perdrix known for its black and white grid, but also go to discover the coast, go fishing on foot, rent sailboats, paddles or kayaks, go to sea on a fishing boat... Finally, gourmet tastings of Breton cakes, pancakes, seafood and walks near Combrit, Loctudy and along the Odet will give these holidays a little taste of I don't know what and only one desire: to come back to L'Île-Tudy next year!
