Le Guilvinec, a fishing town, lives by the tides and its magnificent port. First French artisanal fishing port, Haliotika, the "Cité de la Pêche" of Guilvinec, will take you into the exciting world of fishermen at sea, to allow you to discover all the subtleties of the profession of fisherman who for so many years has fed the Guilvinist families. Workshops, cooking classes, visits to trawlers and the auction, learning fishing techniques... Back from vacation, you will be amazed by this experience! It is impossible to stay in Le Guilvinec without seeing the daily spectacle of fishermen returning from the sea: from 4 p.m. and under a ballet of gulls and seagulls, the brave fishermen land from their trawlers huge nets filled with fish and langoustines, real stars of this Bigouden port. The lighthouse of Guilvinec, massive and painted red and white, is one of the symbols of the resort as is the boat cemetery: with its heartbreaking views of the carcasses of boats gnawed by the sea, this site is one of the unmissable attractions of your visit, much appreciated by painters and photographers. From this emotional place, you can take the "Promenade du Steir" route: on foot or by bike, this coastal route will allow you to admire splendid panoramas of the ocean, the port and the coast as far as the village of Penmarc'h. The Vallon de Moulin Mer, the GR34 trails, the Pointe de Men Meurn, the "Circuit des Ports de Pêche" and the "Chapelles Bigoudènes" loop in particular, are worth doing if you are a hiking or cycling enthusiast.
If Le Guilvinec is small in size, it is nevertheless large in its heritage, which you can discover as you walk through its charming streets. The marine district and its old buildings are also worth a visit, as is the pointe district, a small typical fishermen's district with its charming houses. Don't miss the Kergoz manor house (16th century), the Lestrediagat manor house (17th century) and Villa Le Corre, which are among the most beautiful residences in Guilvinec. You can also cross the path of many dolmens, steles and menhirs that dot the town, from the Lanvar menhir to the Gallic steles, to the impressive 8.5-metre high Léhan menhir. To discover all the richness of the religious, historical and cultural heritage of Guilvinec, we advise you to take the circuit called "Guilvinec côté pierre", from the beach of La Grève-Blanche to the castles, menhirs and fountains that make up the local history, ideal for families.
Finally, Le Guilvinec is also a coastline composed of more than 10 kilometres of fine sandy beaches, allowing a whole host of activities for solo, family or friends. If the "Plage de la Grève Blanche" is the ideal place to play with the family and swim, it is also very popular for fishing on foot and water sports such as kayaking, windsurfing, catamaran, paddle and sailing.
