Between Languedoc and Provence, the village of Vallabrègues is nestled in the hollow of one of the arms of the Rhône. A real nugget in the heart of a region full of striking landscapes, this village in the Gard is the perfect place to take refuge for a restful break.

On the left bank of the Rhone, Vallabrègues is the only village in the Gard on Provençal soil. Unique of its kind, it offers absolutely remarkable panoramas worthy of the most beautiful postcards, with the waters of the Rhône in the foreground, then the village, behind which the marvellous snow-covered mountains of the Alpilles can be seen.

20 kilometres south-west of Avignon, Vallabrègues is above all a market garden. Famous for its numerous vegetable and fruit tree plantations, it offers nature lovers the free field to escape to the heart of its fertile plains dotted with pedestrian and cycling paths. Also, after tasting the famous Vallabrègues bull sausage (everyone here will tell you that it is the best in the region!), but also peaches, cherries, apples, pears, apricots and grapes, take the time to visit the village, peaceful and perfect for a little romantic stroll. Considered the basketry capital since the 20th century, Vallabrègues saw more than 450 craftsmen working with wicker within its walls. Although only one remains today, the town hosts the Basketry Festival in August, and the Basketry Museum will be a must to perfect your knowledge in this field. Typical of Provence, here, we love the "dolce vita", we take the time to do our shopping on foot or by bike, and to visit the historical heart of the town as we wish. On your way to Aramon, you will tirelessly come across the Vallabrègues lake, a bucolic and sunny area, perfect for a picnic, a little fishing or a nap under the sun. A few steps from the lake, the Halte Fluviale awaits you, which will take you on the meanders of the Rhône to discover the local fauna and flora, aboard a small barge. From the river, you will not be able to miss the incredible panoramas of the Castles of Tarascon and Beaucaire located right at the foot of the Rhône!

Finally, a few must-see sites in the region are to be added to your "to-do list" of holidays: Tarascon and Beaucaire obviously for their castles, but also the troglodyte abbey of Saint-Roman (in Beaucaire), without forgetting that of Frigolet made famous by Alphonse Daudet. The village of Boulbon is worth a visit for its medieval castle and its Bonnet mill, while Avignon the famous City of the Popes, Arles and its arenas (25 kilometres away), Villeneuve-lès-Avignon and its historic citadel, Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, Les Baux-de-Provence or the Pont du Gard will delight culture lovers and fans of beautiful stones. Sports enthusiasts will be able to push their visit in the direction of the Alpilles Regional Park to hike through garrigues and hills.
