Typical of the villages that border the Gironde estuary, the village of Saint-Vivien-de-Médoc brilliantly blends the countryside with the elegance of the unspoilt nature of the seaside. Rich with a very ancient history, the commune with Gallo-Roman origins was for a long time an agricultural town, famous in particular for its wine-growing, before turning to tourism. An authentic land, bathed in light and unconditionally turned towards water, Saint-Vivien-de-Médoc offers its visitors a unique setting for holidays in harmony with nature. The "Tour de Ville" of Saint-Vivien-de-Médoc is the perfect way to discover the town and its contours. Along this itinerary, you will discover the heart of the village with its 6th century church which has been restored many times, but also the port of Saint-Vivien studded with small fishing huts, and the oyster basin. But the visit of Saint-Vivien-de-Médoc would not be complete without a tasting session! On the menu? THE speciality of the estuary, oysters of course! Around the port, many producers sell their oysters directly, and many shops offer them à la carte. Shad, eel, Pauillac lamb, asparagus, porcini mushrooms, crunchy estuary, foie gras, prawns, Bazas beef and other locally produced wines will delight the palates of the most discerning palates. But for a real gourmet stopover, we can only recommend a visit to the Saint-Vivien-de-Médoc market. This authentic open-air market in the shade of tall plane trees delights visitors with its many local products. Fruits, vegetables, cold meats, cooked dishes, wines, cheeses and other handicrafts have a special place there and will not fail to plunge you into the warm atmosphere of the Médoc.

For swimming, head north to the beaches of Verdon-sur-Mer, Soulac-sur-Mer or Grayan-et-l'Hôpital. These beaches, long and wide open on the estuary and the Atlantic Ocean, will be absolutely perfect for both hiking and relaxing. Accessible by bike, on foot or by car, these family beaches will allow you to swim, but also to practice a whole range of water activities according to your desires. Every year, the ocean and its sometimes fiery waves seduce many surfing, sailing, bodyboarding, kitesurfing and waterskiing aficionados, but also lovers of quieter water sports such as paddling and sea kayaking. Saint Vivien market to do : local producers MIAM ! Resto "Le Royal Grill" in Saint Vivien (Route D215 towards Le Verdon on the left): very nice welcome, very copious dishes, excellent (local products only MIAM!) and very affordable prices considering the quality offered!
