At the northernmost point of the Grande-Terre, in Guadeloupe, Anse-Bernard covers a little more than 62 square kilometers, surrounded by the communes of Petit-Canal and Port-Louis. Also called "Lansbétran" in Creole, this small town is distinguished from its neighbors by its incredible wild and preserved side, a facet of its personality that will not fail to delight lovers of tranquility and authenticity. Here, it is the calm that reigns supreme, because having very little infrastructure and a population of less than 5000 inhabitants year round, the town is not very well known by tourists: and that's good! Also, on foot or by bike, take the time to walk in the heart of the village of Anse-Bertrand to discover its heritage. What to see? The Saint-Denis-d'Anse-Bertrand church, the small fishing port of Ravine Sable, the Mahaudière house (a former cotton mill), the town hall and its square (the work of the architect Ali Tur), as well as the Beaufond mill.

In addition to a charming architectural heritage that will plunge you into the heart of Guadeloupe's traditions, the commune of Anse-Bertrand is above all known to visitors for its remarkable natural landscapes, which hikers, equipped with good walking shoes, will undoubtedly love to survey. Our advice? Impossible not to go to the Pointe de la Grande Vigie! Located in the north of the island, this site is made of impressive cliffs perched at 80 meters high, which plunge into the crystalline waters of the Atlantic Ocean that borders Guadeloupe. From this site, you will be able to see Desirade in the distance, but also the islands of Monserrat and Antigua. Still on the hiking side, don't miss the Pointe du Pithon, the Pointe de la Petite-Tortue, and the inevitable Porte d'Enfer: a small arm of the sea surrounded by cliffs, this door hides a secret cave called the Trou de Madame Coco. With its lagoon, its park and its steep cliffs, it is the perfect place for swimming, the water being warm and calm. For lazing around, Anse Bernard has a whole bunch of absolutely perfect beaches, like La Chapelle beach, a beautiful 150-meter stretch of beach lined with tall palm trees, recognizable by its clear waters, which makes surfers and swimmers happy. Anse Colas, Anse Pistolet, Pointe de la Grande Vigie, Anse Castalia cave, Anse Laborde beach and many others are perfect for snorkeling, sea kayaking, swimming, paddling or romantic dinners with your feet in the water... We love it!
