The town of Capesterre-Belle-Eau is located on the south-east coast of the island of Basse-Terre, just between Trois-Rivières and Basse-Terre. Its name "Belle-Eau", this seaside destination owes it to its magnificent coastline exposed to the trade winds, as well as to the "Belle-Eau", one of the rivers which cross the commune.

Reputed to be one of the main banana production sites in Guadeloupe, Capesterre-Belle-Eau is home to the Grand Café plantation, which we recommend you visit, as well as the Longuereau distillery, the oldest distillery in Guadeloupe still in operation. Another must-see? The small village of Sainte-Marie, in the north of the commune, where you can discover a column surmounted by a large bust of Christopher Columbus, who disembarked in this place in 1493. But if there is one local curiosity not to be missed, it is the Hindu temple of Changy: adorned with numerous magnificent polychrome statues, this temple, although closed to visitors, is worth a detour for its superb architecture and its brightly coloured facade.

A land of escape, Capesterre-Belle-Eau is a little Eden for hiking enthusiasts. If there is a hike to do during this stay, it is the one that will lead you to the Carbet Falls: perched on the green heights of the town, these splendid waterfalls located in the heart of a lush tropical forest can be admired from a viewpoint, from which amateur photographers have a field day! Still on the walking side, a detour to the superb Cantamerle garden, or a stroll along the Dumanoir alley lined with royal palms will set the tone for this amazing stay in Guadeloupe.
