In the heart of a coastline bordered by turquoise water, Algajola is not just a small seaside resort among many others. Of course, it seduces for the quality of its numerous facilities, perfect for families as well as for groups of friends looking for dynamic holidays. As if it were on the water, the village of Algajola has an attractive seaside, day and night, perfect for dining with a view with your feet in the sand in one of its many straw huts, but also for sunbathing in the comfort of a deckchair. Impossible to resist the magnificence of its waters, perfect for swimming, but also for scuba diving, sailing lessons, kitesurfing, SUP, jet-skiing, surfing... All of which is enough to make the most of the splendours of this charming coastline.

But Algajola is not only that. Algajola is above all a village full of history, whose current lanes testify brilliantly to its glorious past. To penetrate into the ancient heart of this city, pass through its vaulted passages to discover "u castellu", the castle of Algajola. Picturesque, it dominates the beach and the whole citadel with its thick fortified walls. Built at the beginning of the 16th century, on the ruins of the Lomellini tower, this castle with its feet in the water was once one of the strongholds of the Genoese defence system that encircled the island to protect it from invasions. Imposing with its square tower and its crenellations, this building, now private property, is listed as a Historic Monument, and has become over time one of the strong symbols of this corner of Corsica. On the heritage side, it is impossible to visit Algajola without seeing its Saint-Georges church: built in the 15th century, burnt down, destroyed and rebuilt, it was integrated into the defensive system of the village and is distinguished from the other buildings by its square bell tower. Don't miss to push its door to see its beautiful organ, as well as its numerous paintings... And take advantage of the freshness of its walls to settle down there, to listen to polyphonic songs, which resound in its choir during the summer period.

Finally, staying in Algajola is also an opportunity to discover the beauty of Corsica's hinterland. On foot or by bike, via the marked footpaths and cycle routes, you will discover all the riches of the countryside around, from Punta San Damiano to the Bocca Di Forcolina, Lumio, Pigna, Corbara, Sant'Antonio and Ile-Rousse, 7 kilometres away.
