A family destination between the sea and the mountains, Santa Maria Poggio is spread over several hamlets bordering the turquoise water of the Tyrrhenian Sea. Leaning against Mount Osani, the old town of Santa Maria Poggio will reveal its typical architecture of the region, its refined Mediterranean atmosphere and its marina of Taverna, offering exceptional views of the famous Island of Elba. On the built heritage side, you can find a very beautiful church, the 17th century Assumption church, famous for its paintings and its vault frescoed by Luigi Polleni in 1838, as well as a Genoa bridge and a chapel on the Piedmont site. In addition to its cultural and architectural treasures, Santa Maria Poggio is well known to nature lovers for its many panoramas and charming sites. If there is one not to be missed, it is the wonderful waterfall of Ucelluline: the most famous of the waterfalls of the Island of Beauty, the waterfall of Ucelluline is located on the border between the villages of San Nicolao and Santa Maria Poggio. Nestled in a breathtakingly beautiful setting, this waterfall of fresh, clear water is surrounded by several hiking trails that walkers love to use both day and night, when the waterfall lights up and nature becomes a breathtaking sight.
If you like walking, then Corsica is the best place you can choose for your holidays. The Costa Verde is crossed by a magnificent panoramic road along its coastline, called the "Corniche Route": connecting San Giuliano to Taglio-Isolaccio via Cervione, San Nicolao and Santa Maria Poggio, this path lined with chestnut trees, ferns and hills overlooks the sea and the Alesani valley, offering those who use it magnificent views over the Corsican countryside.
If, however, you like to sunbathe, then the beaches of Santa Maria Poggio are perfect for it! There are many beaches and coves where you can relax in peace and quiet: "Moriani Beach", "Poggiole Beach", "Vanga di l'Oru Beach" and many others will offer you a perfect setting for relaxing moments. The "Port Taverna Beach" is much more sporty, thanks to the presence of a nautical centre on its seaside. Thanks to the latter, it will be possible for you to practice a very large number of water sports: boat trips, sailing, catamaran, wakeboarding, water skiing, scuba diving to discover the seabed of the resort and wrecks, surfing, paddle, towed buoy, windsurfing... "San Carlu": magnificent beach and waterfall restaurant 40 minutes on foot, 10 of which are incompressible on a steep and rocky path. Fragile person to abstain.

Go to the restaurant "Le Lido" in Moriani-Plage 2km away: great seaside restaurant not expensive at all and super good. To see : the Ucelluline waterfall, it's worth the little walk to get there :-)))
