In the heart of the forests of the Pyrenees mountains, the commune of Bagnères de Luchon is located in the Haute-Garonne department (Occitanie region). Both a spa and a ski resort, this 100% natural destination is an invitation to escape and recharge your batteries in the middle of a prolific and unspoilt nature.

Nicknamed the "Queen of the Pyrenees", Bagnères de Luchon is perched at an altitude of 630 metres at the foot of some of the highest peaks of the massif. A dream playground for fans of outdoor activities, the town and its "Luchon-Superbagnères" ski resort are ideal destinations for families looking for dynamic holidays. In winter, you can opt for sleigh rides, snowshoeing or cross-country skiing, family sledging, but also beautiful ski or snowboard runs according to your wishes. Mountaineering is very popular in the Luchon area and the Luchonais massif, which has 14 peaks perched at an altitude of more than 3000 metres: whether you are a seasoned sportsman or simply a contemplative, you can enjoy breathtaking views of the Pyrenees from these lookouts during your excursions.

When summer comes, the resort becomes a real paradise for outdoor sports aficionados. On the agenda? Paragliding, ice rink, golf (9 holes), climbing, canyoning, horse riding, caving, paintball, but also gliding, archery, white water sports, via ferrata, hiking and mountain biking thanks to more than 250 kilometres of marked trails! In short, activities for all levels and all desires.

The village of Bagnères de Luchon is also very attractive. It is not for nothing that Napoleon III, Alexandre Dumas, Alphonse de Lamartine, the Empress Eugénie or Gustave Flaubert wandered through the streets of this enchanting destination. Marked by history, the town still preserves many testimonies of its rich past, and in particular traces of the Second Empire and the Belle Époque. The Casino, Villa Luisa and its horse-headed facade, Villa Bertin and the Pyrenees Palace are beautiful examples of the architecture of the time. Villa Julia, in particular, was Edmond Rostand's holiday destination during the first 22 years of his life: it is even said that it was his balcony that inspired the famous author to create the balcony scene in his work Cyrano de Bergerac! Continue your visit of Luchon by taking Boulevard de Gorsse, famous for its magnificent villas: Villa Le Pigné (in which Sacha Guitry has stayed several times), Villa Santa-Maria, or Villa Raphaël are not to be missed! The latter was Clémenceau's residence at the beginning of the 20th century before being inhabited by Mata Hari and then by the Gestapo during the Second World War.

After these cultural discoveries and sporting activities, why not opt for a few moments of well-deserved relaxation? With its prestigious thermal springs, Bagnères de Luchon attracts several thousand visitors every year who are curious to discover the benefits of the sulphurous waters of the commune. The station is also specialized in respiratory, ENT and rheumatology treatments. You can choose to benefit from specialized and targeted treatments, relax with massages, hydromassage baths, a few fathoms in a thermal water pool heated to 34°C, or simply relax in the vaporarium of the "Luchon Forme et Bien-Être" centre, the only natural hammam in Europe.

Finally, it is impossible to stay in Bagnères de Luchon without enjoying the delights of its cuisine. Grilled meats, mountain lamb mice, game with boletus or morels, pistachio luchonnaise, chicken in a pot, Pyrenean fondue, garbure, Luchon peram, mountain omelette, salmon, goat cheese, apple crust, strawberry and blueberry pies, honey and mineral water from Luchon will certainly delight the whole family!

To ski at the Superbagnères resort, no need to get in the car. Just take the gondola lift in the centre of Bagnères (even with ski boots on your feet and skis in your hands: the gondola lift is equipped for equipment).
